The VZ58, often misidentified as an AK variant is actually a totally Czech design, it is lighter than an AKM & seems to be very reliable. Three versions Vz58P full stock, found in early wood stocks & later bakelite, Vz58V, folding stock, & Vz58PN a Vz58P w/a rail for use w/the Czech verison of the Soviet NSP2 IR scope.

Vz58P/Vz2000 semi-auto Here is an Ohio Ordinance Works Vz2000 (Vz58 clone), OOW mfg receiver (semi-auto) on a Czech Vz58 parts kit. This rifle is absolutely stunning, the workmanship & quality is top notch, it comes complete w/bayonet/scabbard (cannot be fitted on gun though, don't you feel safe now!), mag pouch, mags, & cleaning kit
Vz58P after ban w/accessories Right view of prvious rifle after having the lug restored, shown w/the mag pouch, cleaning/tool kit in pouch, bayonet/scabbard & sling, this rifle has the bakelite furniture as most do, wooden stock sets are extremely hard to find.
Vz58P Stock right View of rear stock of Vz58P full stock w/bakelite furniture. Interesting feature of the Vz58 rifles is the rear stocks are interchangeable from folder-full stock & back again w/1 large screw!
V58 acton right
Vz58 action area Note the safety, this rifle is NOT an AK, it is a totally different design although it has the same general appearance.
Vz58 marking right
Vz58 rear sight Battle sight marking is U, not the same as Russian/Soviet "U" which is Crylic. Also note the range markings go to 800 meters, the same as the earlier milled AK variants as opposed to the 1000 meters of the later AKM.
Vz58 muzzle area right The muzzle as originally done by Ohio Ordinance, the lug had been "shaved" as the rifle was purchased when the ban was still in effect, restoration is legal as the ban sunset. Also note that the Vz58 uses a 15 3/4" barrel which makes it an SBR, Ohio Ordinance affixed a muzzle extension (permanent) to bring it to legal length, the extension is still permanately attached on this rifle.
Vz58P Lug Here's a close up of the restored bayonet lug.
Vz58 w/bayonet affixed This is one of numerous variations of the Vz58 bayonet, number of rivets, length of tang etc.
Vz58 bayonet scabbard marking Most Czech militaria is well marked as Czech, all similiar to the above, the crossed swords marking is the Czech military ownership or acceptance mkg & is found on everything!, rifles, bayonets, knives, leather goods, uniforms, headgear etc, there is also usually a date & a factory code!, a miliatria collectors dream!
Variant plastic bay scabbard & mag pouch The bayonet scabbard & mag pouch (holds 1 mag only) are reportedly for Chemical/Biological warfare action, they're the same material/composition as all the Chem war gear/uniforms from the ComBloc countries that I have & have seen.
Rear view of previous items Note the markings, always identifiable!

Vz58 cleaning kit All the tools are carried in the pouch on the right.
Vz58Mag-Pouch Mag pouch (holds 4 VZ58 mags) & a mag, 7.62x39, 30rd but the Vz58 mags are only for the Vz, they are not interchangeable w/AK mags.
Vz58 Pouch markings Here they are again, on the inside of the leather tab of the pouch.

OowVz2000Rcvr A pic of the bare Ohio Orinance mfg semi-auto receiver which is available on it's own for those who want to build their own. My experience w/the rifle in the pics is that this is a very well made & engineered piece!

Vz58 stock left Note the rear swivel "swivels" on the stock, probably for less strain on the bakelite as most of the stock is actually hollow.

Vz58 complete set Pictured, L-R, T-B, mag pouch, mag, Chem war mag pouch, 2 mags, cleaning/tool kit in pouch, VZ2000 manual, rifle w/sling, bayonet in Chem war scabbard, standard leather scabbard, items below are a legal Vz58V parts kit, including folding stock.
Vz58V "para" model This is the same rifle as pictured earlier w/the folding stock on, which makes it a Vz58V model, most likely for issue to paratroops, armor crewman etc. Changing the stock is very easy, requiring the removal of 1 screw. A long screwdriver is required to reach the screw in the full stock & the folding stock requires a special screw which is much shorter.
