Colt Model 920 (M4) carbine
The current US service rifle, M4/M4A1 is a 14.5" collapsible stock developement from the M16A2, it's the primary US combat arm in Afghanistan & Iraq. This M4 "replica" is based on a Colt 6520 carbine lower w/an M4 upper w/14.5" M4 barrel that has an xtended A2 FH pinned to the barrel to make it a legal 16", the use of the 14.5" original length barrel & the extended FH for the extra length allows the bayonet to fit the rifle properly.

Original 16" barrel w/M9 bayonet
The 16" barrel on the 6920 makes it unable to properly mount the bayonet as the muzzle ring sits in the middle of the barrel.

M4 14.5" vs 16" barrel  comparison
Top: Colt 6920 w/an original M4 14.5" barrel which has been fitted w/a Sabre Defence extended A2 FH permanently mounted to bring it to legal length.
Botom: Original 6920 16" barrel w/standard A2 FH.

M4 R muzzl comparison
Top: 14.5" w/permanent xtended A2 FH
Bottom: standard 6920 16" barrel
You can see the difference in the location of the first "joint" of the FH which is what supports the muzzle ring on the M7/M9 bayonets, the original 16" barrel has this joint too far forward.

M4 R mzzl comparison w-bay
Here the bayonet is mounted on the original 16" barrel, you can see that the muzzle ring would line up perfectly w/the joint of the FH in the 14.5" barrel on top (this is a 14.5" barrel w/a permanently fitted extended A2 FH which makes it a legal 16" length barrel), this is the only proper solution to build an accurate "replica" of the M4 carbine which will correctly mount the bayonet.
