I was there with my unit, Freeman's Battery/Forrest's Artillery. We were honored to be there, and fire the first of the artillery salute to that brave sailor. May he rest in peace, and God Save The South!

Great memorial and funeral. I am a distant cousin of the Semmes family through the Carrico's and Semmes (in k\Kentucky post 1800) from colonial Maryland.Would like to correspond with the Semmes researchers about their genealogy. Thank You, Gary Rogers
