This lot was recently purchased from an eBay seller who runs a popular store located in Tokyo, Japan that specializes in mostly modern post 1960's wrestling. The lot languished for a couple of months on the site with no takers. When I stumbled onto the lot I knew right away that this was something of a find. I immediately recognized several yokozuna including Futabayama. The finally tally is 162 bromides, photos, postcards, etc. All are original vintage and appear to be from possibly the 1910's/20's to the 1950's with most seeming to fall within the 1930's to 40's timespan. Most are postcard sized and a good chunk of those look to be from at least three issued sets based on printed text on the backs. As a collector of mainly vintage Japanese baseball I encounter sumo items frequently and while I do recognize some of these items, many I have never come across before. My plan is to get all of these items properly scanned and I'm hoping that among this lot there will be new subjects and sets that can be cataloged and included in the forthcoming 7th edition of the Sumo Menko & Card Checklist by Ryan C. Laughton.

Currently adding wrestler names and set designations. Some will be listed as "Unc." or "Uncataloged" until I can figure what set they are from or if they are in fact cataloged at all. Many more images to be uploaded in the coming months. Stay tuned.
