I have a 57mm complete shell. Dad was with the 5th Armored Div - the 1st unit crossing into Germany. Both the UK & US guns could fire this '6-lb'er'. Any interest in it?

have only just seen your restoration.excelent job. I am about to start construction of four airborne 6pdr's with the broken leg trail and was wondering if you had any parts for sale that may help. At the moment I have four sights, two original rims and six rims that could be converted but no tyres, anything else would be a great help.

Regards louis

Can anyone tell me exactly how a 6-pounder was fired? I'm writing a book on WWII in North Africa. My uncle was a gunner. Would be most grateful.

Great project - fantastic photos. Tis a beautiful Mk 4. My brother-in-law (Pvt. Robert Hilton) was in the 2nd Platoon, B Battery, 81st Abn AA Battalion, 101st Airborne Division. Bateries A,B, and C were anti-tank. Bob died outside of Bastogne on Jan. 4, 1945. I'm writing his biography of Bob for the family, and I've been searching for good photos of the airborne version of the 6-pounder - the Mk 3.  May I use two of your photos in his biography? Specifically the open sights and the scope sight pictures?

Hi Gary
The restoration looks fantastic - Well done,
I have just acquired a 57MM here in the UK - Will be using for Living History as part of our British Infantry impression.
I am desperately trying to find a pair of British wheels and tyres plus a muzzle brake - Can you help at all? Happy to pay a fair price - Please let me know. All the best - Rob

That's a nice setup. Is the 15 cwt CMP an original anti-tank tractor? I'm trying to find details of the fittings in the box of the ATT. Could you email me pix of the interior of the box? Thanks

I have a 57mm M1 at our American Legion Post. It is in much better condition than the one you restored. The breach has only a few small welds and some concrete in the barrel. We are looking at the possibility of bring this gun back to serviceable condition. I am searching for the TOE for setting this gun up. The barrel is made by Yoder Co. 1942, The Carriage is International Harvester 1942. Any help or information would be great!

Very nicly done the 6-pndr restoration. (And that is an understatement) One remark though being restored as a regular 6 pdr the pegasus emblem on it is a bit like a parachute wing on a regular infantry helmet! My compliments to those who were involved in it's restoration.
regards, Jim (Holland)

MY FATHER FOUGHT AT ARNHEM,ALSO N.AFRICA,SICILY & ITALY. HE SERVED WITH NO2 COMMANDO 11th SAS 1st PARACHUTE BATTALION,1st PARACHUTE BRIGADE AS A PLATOON SGT AND COLOUR SGT ERIC SEAL FOUGHT WITH HIS COMRADES NEAR THE CROSSROADS AND EVENTUALLY HE OCCUPPIED A SLIT TRENCH OUTSIDE THE HARTENSTEIN HOTEL. I COULD ADD MORE BUT HIS STORY CAN BE READ IN "MEN OF THE RED BERET" BY MAX ARTHUR AND ARNHEM 1944 BY MARTIN MIDDLEBROOKE. WHERE HE IS MENTIONED BRIEFLY. I WAS VERY PLEASED WHEN THEY PLACED HIS PHOTOGRAPH NEXT TO HIS FRIENDS CPL REG CURTIS {AUTHOR OF CHURCHHILL'S VOLUNTEER} AND LT RICHARD BINGLEY WHO LIKE MY FATHER REGARDED THEMSELVES AS A BUNCH OF PIRATES THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS. SADLY MY FATHER PASSED AWAY IN MARCH 2003 AND IN MEMORY OF HIM IN SEPTEMBER 17 2004 I PARACHUTED INTO ARNHEM FROM ONE OF THE DAKOTA'S AND LAID A WREATH TO MY FATHER.  HE WAS ESPECIALLY PLEASED ABOUT MY APPEARANCE IN BAND OF BROTHERS AS A FRENCH CAPTAIN AND A GATHERING STORM AS A M.P. AS THIS IS MY CAREER I AM EMPLOYED IN. I AM CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF WRITING A BOOK DEDICATED TO MY FATHER AND HIS FRIENDS. YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS ARE VERY GOOD, ONE OF MY FATHERS FRIENDS WAS IN CHARGE OF A MORTAR DETACHMENT AND HE SAW SGT BASKERFIELD KNOCK OUT A NUMBER OF GERMAN TANKS BEFORE BEING KILLED. IM SURE THESE MEN WOULD HAVE BEEN PLEASED BY YOUR DISPLAY YOURS SINCERELY SCOTT SEAL BA (HONS).
