I have begun to write a memoir for my family. I had one of those lives in the 70's and 80's that most people would find hard to believe. While searching the internet, I found this site and it brought back so many memories of people I had forgotten. I had been locked in an ashram in Boston and then rescued and brought to a house in Queens that was filled with Maharaji devotees. It was a blessing to be in a place of such high energy. I was there with Jai and Laxshmi, Shruti, Desert, Bhagavan Das, Gungadhar andSharada (and their baby) and many others who floated in and out of the house at different times. When the house broke up, I had no money and nowhere to go. Das was kind enough to invite me up to his farm in Abercorn to help with chores. Subadhra, Laxshman, Sunanda, little Tara and Shivaya were also there. Das's kindness enabled me to move forward in my life. Looking back reminds me of how I was then and how far I have come and paradoxically how much further I have to travel on this planet.

Wonderfull memories . I was not there but feel I was. It is not explicable why I feel such love for these people as if I knew them. Are there any in Australia ?

I remember well many of the western devotees who had been to India to be with Baba; they were there at Hilda's and later with Joya (now Ma Jaya) and they were something new to me. I had never felt such love, or sometimes I feel, any love, until I met them. I am forever grateful to them for opening my heart and showing me a new possibility of living, which I am only now making an effort to live. Their memory is revered

Just returned from a month in Uttarakhand and a brief pilgrimage to the Kainchi Ashram. The vibes are so peaceful there. I sat next to Baba's seat and could only imagine the light that must have surrounded the ashram back in the early days.

Looking to connect with friends from the Palo Alto Ananda Marga ashram ca. 1973. I was a roommate with Nachiketa (aka Steven Richheimer). I never had the honor of Maharajji's darshan, but all these wonderful photos and the stories that attend them are an inspiration. What joy!

I have lots of old pictures from early days in India (mostly from Ganji Sah studio) and will try to send them on when I get back to California. Photo 7 above was actually taken at the Alpert farm in Franklin, NH, in 1974. Love and pranams to all I haven't seen for sooo long.

Would like to get in touch with Jai Lakshaman das, American disciple of Babaji. We (Me, you, & Ram Dass met at a lecture in Atlanta in 1990, shortly before I went to Badrinath. You were so nice and kind by taking my address & later sending me a spiral bound photo album. i have never forgotten you and Ram Dass' kindness.
