Cow (Chat Of the Week): VENDOME

Operated as a subsidiary of Coro, Vendome was a very high quality line.In the early 1950's the full Vendome line was introduced and was characterized by the use of high quality materials such as European stones and crystal faceted beads along with clear and colored lucite,faux pearls and wonderful enameled pieces.

One of Vendome's major designers,Helen Marion,has been credited with the high popularity Vendome enjoyed in the 1960's. Among many of her innovative designs are the series of six collage-like pins inspired by the work of Cubist artist Georges Braque. The complete series is very hard to find and very valuable if you have all six.

Other notable designers for Coro were Marion Weeber and Gene Verrecchio (Verri) according to A Tribute to America by Carla & Roberto Brunialti pgs. 29 & 30.

Vendome production ceased in 1979.
