KRAMER JEWELRY CREATIONS

Founded in 1943 in New York City by Louis Kramer (soon joined by brothers Morris and Harry), Kramer Jewelry Creations designed and marketed an outstanding range of costume jewelry. From inexpensive to top-of-the-line, the styles and materials used varied greatly over the years and included rhinestones, art-glass stones, plastics, sterling, beads, chains and enamels. Kramer outsourced all manufacturing of its designs to companies such as DeLizza and Elster and Dan Kasoff Inc. (Florenza). This outsourcing allowed the company to quickly change with the times and accounts for the fact that there is no “Kramer look” per se.

Kramer produced two lines of special interest: One designed exclusively for Christian Dior and a second by famous Miriam Haskell designer Frank Hess marked "Amourelle". Kramer advertised its jewelry designs extensively and also held some design patents dating from 1949 to 1954. The company closed its doors in 1979 or 1980.
