SAPHIRET: Glass stones that have a pinkish/mauve/mocha base and when exposed to light have a blue iridescence to them due to the real gold mixed into the glass during production.

PASTE: High lead content glass which has been cut or faceted to resemble a gemstone.

REPOUSSE (ruh poo SAY): Raised design in metal..Working from the back of a piece with punches and hammer.

1 JEWELRY TERMS: SAPHIRET GLASS STONES SAPHIRET GLASS: "Glass developed in the late 19th century in Bohemia, made by adding karat gold to sapphire blue glass. The gold adds a mocha glow to the underlying blue glass. Different proportions of gold were used; the more gold used produced more intense mocha color." For box-link chain, all of the pieces are the same size and linked together so that the chain looks the same from all sides.
