Getting Farmall M # 2 loaded up at the used tractor lot.
This one is a 1949 model. Motor is stuck on it but it has a lot of parts that # 1 is missing. And it has tires that hold air!

Lifted the head up on Farmall # 2 to see what the pistons and cylinders looked like. Just a little light surface rust on the cylinder walls. Honing them will clean them right up from what we saw.
Used a little more force and got the motor to turn over, it broke loose.  Can't wait to get it in the barn so we can start on it.

Got it moved into the barn, finally!

A little light surface rust on the cylinder walls that should hone out pretty easily.

Crankshaft has damage. Looks like it was ran low on oil.

Rods and pistons look good.

Need some stands now to split it and pull the crankshaft out.

Got # 2 split.

Our stands could use some caster wheels but it works no heavier then this engine is.

And there is what we found once we pulled the crank shaft out. Bearings are beyond done!

I think the crank shaft might be ok. Don't know about those grooves where the seal runs though.

# 4 piston journal. Looks questionable but Andrew was able to scrape a lot of it off as it's bearing build-up.

Work on tractor # 2 is on hold for now, going to try and get # 1 running first now.

Finally getting back to work on #2. Andrew got main and rod bearings for this one. Working on getting them installed.

Finally got it running. Robbed parts off Farmall 1 to get this one going.

Sorry for the sideways video. It won't let me straighten it.
But now that we know it runs good and drives we can get some new parts if and when money allows to get it all fixed up.

Yes, that is a John Deere sticker on our mailbox. We're really a John Deere family. lol
But I will collect and save any color tractor from going to scrap if I can afford it.
