Hurricane Helene
Hurricane Helene blew ashore in Florida's Big Bend region as a category 4 hurricane late Thursday night, Sept. 26, 2024, with winds of 140 mph.

We were on the east side of the hurricane here in Lake City, FL.

Top of huge oak tree snapped off just missing our main gate - but blocking us in - will have to cut all that up and move it now !

From a distance the mess at our gate and fence flattened on right side …. Is not bothering Buddy the goat eating all the greenery and happy as can be ….

And a turn around 180 view of the mess  up the road with banana plants blown down.

Other side of our banana crop blown over with very powerful wind that hit us on the right side of the eye wall - probably over 100 mph winds.

Three tall pine trees snapped off like twigs in the powerful wind and pulling down power service lines to our spare mobile homes.

Our garden shed for washing produce from the garden - had its roof torn right off and trashed. Thank God our water manifold for all the yard sprinkler sections was missed and our roto tiller seems ok.

More of the pine tree mess and that’s not all. We have 6 tall pines and many big oak branches and a 80’ water oak tree up rooted at the center of our property.

Huge 6” pine branch about 20’ long crashed down wiping out two banana plants having a nice crop of bananas and just missed our chicken yard gate. Went in with the egg basket and loaded up 42 eggs ….. all chickens and goats here doing fine through the event.

Oh boy ! Tall water oak blown over and the bottom roots uplifted out of the ground ….
Lots of chainsaw work ready to be done around here.

Pine tree top split and blown over to left and took out some big branches of an oak tree it landed in.

Chicken yard was completely saved from any damage ? Go figure that one out ……
