"Robert (Bobby) Leroy Blanks, 74, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Church of Christ in Happy with Rick Bloodworth, minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Happy Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Happy’s Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Bobby was born June 9, 1945 in Amarillo to Leroy and Euva Blanks. He graduated from Tascosa High School and attended Wichita State University and WTSU. Bobby worked for several different ranches and feed yards in Dalhart, Higgins, Amarillo and Ulysses, KS. He returned to Amarillo in 1977 and was the manager for Great Plains Grain Terminal. In 1981, he bought a farm east of Happy and accepted a job with Attebury Grain in Happy, where he served as manager until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of the Happy Church of Christ, the Happy ISD school board, the Happy Rodeo Club and a supporter of Cowboy 4-H Club and the Randall County Junior Livestock Association. He followed and supported his kids in all their school events, sporting events, 4-H activities and rodeos. Grandkids came along and he was one of their biggest supporters. Despite his disability, he followed them to numerous sporting events, stock shows, and rodeos. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Euva Blanks and his sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Brian Geurin. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Johnson and husband Jody of Vega and Kristi Flatt and husband Brad of Happy; son, Jeff Blanks and wife Breanna of Clayton, NM; grandkids, Trevor and Amanda Johnson, Braden Johnson, Brent Johnson, Kolby and Tesla Flatt, Kolton and Brittney Flatt, Zack Flatt, Kelsie and Hayden Hill, Flint Blanks and Quay Blanks; great-grandkids, Beckham and Shep Johnson, Tralee and Quincee Johnson, Jentry, Jaylen, and Judson Flatt and Kopelynn Flatt; niece, Lori Hill and husband Dennis; nephew, Lee Walker and wife Sonia; as well as his extended family. The family suggests memorials be made to the Happy Church of Christ, PO Box 578, Happy, TX 79042 or to the Happy Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 216, Happy, TX 79042. The family would like to thank the staff at Clayton Nursing and Rehab for their amazing care and love shown towards our Dad." --admin, 02/20/20
