On our 2nd day we went to see the greatest war machine ever conceived.
Located in Diver City Plaza is a full scale statue of a Gundam.
From the popular TV show Gundam, this giant robot is the epitome of fighting machine. Gundams are no mere fighting machine, they are extensions of the pilots skill and will. By conventional military standards, these machines are needlessly vulnerable and complicated. What's forgotten is that a Gundam isn't just a armored humanoid machine. It's a fighting soldier made massive and powered with a nuclear engine. With a skilled and talented pilot, these things are nearly unstoppable.

In the future, a combination of AI and advanced sensors that can "read" the minds of a pilot made practical the creation of Mobile Suits. The Gundam is the ultimate evolution of the combat Mobile Suit.
6 As the technology for Mobile Suits continued to evolve, Newtypes (uniquely gifted pilots) came to dominate the battlefield. Gundam Unicorn was created as a way to both compensate for power of a Newtype and extract even more performance from the pilots natural gifts.

12 The level of detail that went into the design of this statue is amazing. This statue is fully articulated. It could, in theory, be made movable, if there were an engine powerful enough.
