Tells Creek 8/11-8/13 (Elegant Ears) (August 17, 2005)I attended the Tells Creek camp out with The Elegant Ears Mule Club that I belong to from 8/11 to 8/13. Tells Creek is in the Sierra nevada's North of Hiway 50 between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. We went for a nice ride thru the woods to Loon Lake on Saturday and Sunday a short ride down to see part of an airplane crash that happened in 1941. The rides were great, the food was great and I met a lot of very nice people. I will put captions on as many pictures as I can but I won't try to put names with faces. I know some and some I don't but all were a great bunch of Mule Skinners. |

Sydney (March 1, 2005)I purchased Sydney on February 28, 2005 after flying to Kansas and riding her. This is what the ad said for her: Sidney is a four year old peach pumpkin dun molly mule. she is broke to ride, clips, leads, loads, trims, jumps any thing you ask her to and really moves out on the trails. My arabs have trouble keeping up! ( she can walk slow too, but prefers faster) She has a full, identical brother that is three yaers old and started under saddle. Their sire was a registered mammoth jack and their dam was a grulla mare. These two would make an awesome pair to drive or ride. You can hardly tell them apart. Will sell together or seperate. |

Mercedes (July 6, 2004)I purchased Mercedes from Leah Singleton of Winters, CA. about 1.5 miles from my house. I actually looked at her at first for a friend and just fell in love with her. When my friend couldn't buy her I went back and purchased her. Her Mother was a Peruvian Paso named Lindeza Linda and her Father was a gaited Jack named Traveller. (see pictures) Unfortunatley he passed away last January.
Mercedes was three years old last April and amazes me how gentle and what a pleasure to ride she is.
I received the first 14 pictures from Ken and Judie Cunningham, the breeders of Mercedes and they wrote this to me regarding how Mercedes got her name:
We named her Mercedes because she was a NI foal, Neonatal Isoloyritherorsis (sp?), and we hadn't heard of that before she was born. When she was about 5 hours old, she started peeing blood, so we rushed her into the vet, and her red blood cells were being killed by antibodies her mother made against her blood (which was travellers type) in the colostrum. She had a full blood transfusion from a gelding the vets keep there for that purpose, a quarterhorse they called "Mercedes". So we named her after him since he saved her life. |
