The plaster has been removed, revealing the lath that was used underneath. Weird-looking, isn't it?
Upstairs, with about half of the walls torn down.
Close-up of dining room ceiling. That's old, original wiring in there, not attached to anything, of course. And ceramic insulators that were used to carry wires through the joists. That's is so NOT code, these days . . .
And the bathroom comes down . . .
Carl and Sharon, who did some decent remodeling of the house before we bought it, signed the wall before the bathroom remodel, in '95.
Two different wallpaper patterns, uncovered during the demo process.
Perhaps the original linoleum? Yuck.
Kitchen wallpaper. My, how tastes have changed.
Demo of the living room wall revealed a damaged pocket door. (Which is no doubt why it was entombed in the first place.)
Kitchen counter and sink have been removed, revealing that the original window was much lower to the ground.
Upstairs.
Now that the supporting wall's been mostly removed from beneath the staircase, it's barely hanging on - by a couple of nails, maybe.
Another view of the pocket door.
Now we're getting somewhere! Wallks upstairs are in, the transoms are in, and the new floor will be overlaid shortly.
New windows in the bedroom bay. Nice higher ceiling, too.
Bathroom tile detail. No bathtub faucet yet.
Another view from inside the bedroom. Looks like the floor is going in.
From the alcove, looking rearward. Stacks of flooring in the foreground.
The shower - no door yet, but the tile's been done.
Before the showerhead installation.
Close-up of floor detail.
Ah, what a mess can accumulate in a basement, when construction is going on!
Another bathroom shot. No toilet yet -- the construction crew used the one in the bar next door.
Basement, and a shot of the new furnace.
Downstairs jumble, as seen from the kitchen. (The refrigerator saw the whole thing through.)
No sink yet.
Kitchen: counters and cabinets are halfway in.
Another view.
Alcove for the fridge.
We got a porchlight installed. No exterior lighting was ever installed on any of the early rowhouses.
