2005 London to Maranello and Back V2 This assembles in one place, half of the stories published back in 2005 and 2006, of my trip from London to Maranello and back in a Ford GT and a Dodge Viper. It was, as I have said so many times, the greatest week in my life. Everyone should have one week in their life that is as perfect as this one was for me. I feel very fortunate for having all the stars align and to Ford's former head of European Public Affairs for making it possible.

Spain 2012 (September 20 - October 3)| It was another GoAheadTours trip for me, this time with my cousin Janet. We visited several sites that I had seen previously --- Madrid, Seville, and Barcelona --- plus several sites that were new to me --- Cordoba, Gibraltar, Granada, and Tarragona. In addition, there was a one-day excursionto Morocco. It was a delightful itinerary, filled with sangria and tapas. |

Northern Chile 2012 (August 2012)Why spend two weeks in the driest climate on Earth - Chile's desert north? Maybe to behold otherworldly scenery in some of the most remote locations on the continent; or perhaps to gaze up into the clearest night skies on the planet; or simply to revel in one perfectly warm, perpetually sunny Atacama day after another.
We began our tour of the north in the coastal town of La Serena, took a side trip into the beautiful Elqui Valley, flew up to San Pedro de Atacama and then bused back to the coast and the town of Arica. A few days were lost wandering up to Parque Lauca before we spent our final nights in Santiago, Chile's capital city.
A night at one of the observatories in the Elqui Valley is a requiement and the San Pedro reqion is a deserved tourist magnet. But desolate Parque Lauca is a treasure worth discovering - the ultimate destination or any exploration of Chile's hauntingly austere northern region. |
