Weinstadt-Grossheppach, Ägidiuskirche
Disadvantage of a round clock face, the alpha and omega symbolism has to be sacrificed.[Crawlspace has to be filled in.]

Grossheppach Rathaus
The city hall, dating back to 1605, was built with utility in mind. The ground floor was dedicated to fire fighting pumps and the non artificial insemination of cows. The plaque says so (well, maybe not in quite these words). - The present day parking is an indication that fire trucks are no longer billeted there. - Selective corbelling of timbers. Some cost saving measures in the rear part. The mesh screen guarded wall boxes will be air ducts for gas heating rather than air conditioning. - The Xmas light chain under the eaves is off. Permanent fixture.

Häckermühle
The carved square between the double window will be massive wood. Beam stacked on beam. The space between the floor joints is used for ornamental decorations.

I can make out a waterwheel in the lintel frieze. The rest is too eroded.

Grossheppach barn
At first glance it looked as if the vats were part of the barn wall. The fanciful notion did not survive closer inspection. Just another trophy board. The barrel tops pinch hitting for hub caps. (Intrinsically: Can one stave in hub caps?) Diplomatically: Welcome to the wonderful world of chimes and xylophones. - Consolation prize: the utility company will hardly complain if you use surplus power lines as vine trellis.

The purpose of the rake (hay pitching tool) next to the vine is unclear. Maybe for harpooning grapes. Dali problem. The rims still show how far the tops were inserted into the staves. Matching groove.

Grossheppach Backhaus
Old communal baking house. Some stress zone in the lower right hand corner. The color of the traffic sign is accidental.

Flaking paint. The unusually placed bolt of the left shudder, the one with the overbite, can be driven into the small hook in the center of crossbeam frame. (At least in theory.)

Grossheppach, Schloss
Hydrangea (best guess) next to a self serving watering device. (The hydrangea blocks the access to the pump handle. The conclusion is obvious.)

Delivery entrance. The flower board just screams salesman. Whatever you can drop. Takes no great leap in imagination to extend that into drop bottom machicolations. Somebody got the forge iron rail wrong. The door to guard house is on the other side. The Gothic window makes not sense. This is supposed to be a curtain wall. Castle cook, apologetically: it was a special offer.

Grossheppach, Schloss the lapidarium
Probably a gypsum cast. I particularly like the one stringer only ladder.

Grossheppach, Schloss lapidarium
Rule of thumb, if it is cast iron lion paws it is most likely bathtubs, if it is soapstone mermaids (or Tritons) you should not be too far wrong if you think tiled stove (the floor prop for the projecting part). Hood ornaments before their time. In any case a lovely pair. I read the date as 1769.
