1 Weil der Stadt, town square A youthful Carlos Quinto. Reputedly from 1537. Latest coat of paint somewhat more recent. The breast hook is for frying pans. Important tournament equipment in its time. Hope I do not mix it up with polo. The particular headgear is still remembered as the name of a lily. Fritillaria imperialis or 'Crown imperialis'. The gold chain attests membership in a Burgundian sheep shearing guild. The hair is not nearly as black as in most Titian 'retratos'.
The imperial township wavered between Protestantism and the Catholic faith during the time of the Reformation. It finally reverted to the latter. There might otherwise be a Brenz statue at this location.
Carlos V burnt a lot of third party cash on mercenary armies to save the world from the new faith. He did throw in the towel before the final melt down and retired to St.Yuste. Famous saying, all my Teutonic soldiers are drunkards and all my Spanish ones thieves. Minor overtone, you cannot make silk purses ...
2 Weil der Stadt, town square Carlos V is watching. Better to queue up civilly.
3 Weil der Stadt, town square The lion fountain comes with the imperial city territory. (Beware of cheap imitations and counterfeits.)
The nominal independence of Weil der Stadt did end in 1803 even as that of Esslingen. Incorporation into Württemberg by Reichsdeputations-Hauptschluss decision. (Rule of thumb: the longer the name, the more morally questionable the transactions.) Technical side of this particular peace treaty was actually fairly straightforward. Napoleon as victor of Campo Fermio gets a big chunk of continental Europe and all remaining souvereigns receive small fry third party territory in compensation. The bigger fish eat the smaller ones. Face saving charm word at the time: mediatisation. Didactic tag: politics is the game of mutually sanctioning the redistribution of third party property. No Marxist underpinning needed to understand that. The civilian population will not have been affected too much at the time. The zones of Carnot conscription will have been shifted to the East. An a...

7 Weil der Stadt, town square Statue of a local wizard, bested by Newton. He was famous for his Platonic night vision and his curve finding algorithm. (Off hand: the seriousness of a deviation is proportional to the square of its absolute value.) His theory of spanked planets and ever present solar rays (the spanking paddles) did not quite make it. Force transmission over a distance is a difficult subject matter even for a seasoned wizard. Particular conundrum, force transmission at a right angle.
By Kreling, 1870. Copernicus and Tycho de Brahe were awarded small honor niches in the base.

14 Weil der Stadt , Peter u Paul I somehow like it. Only problem: No way can a woman give birth to a 30 pound plus infant.
15 Weil der Stadt, Peter u Paul
16 Weil der Stadt, Peter u Paul Gloria in exclesis deo. There is simply no way you can do justice to a baroque pulpit (1743, borderline Rococo) in a single picture. Just too many sideshows.

31 Weil der Stadt, Badtor Badtor + Delphinbrunnen. The town gate had to make room for progress in 1811. It was not even offered for reassembly. Five containers of historic brick.

33 Weil der Stadt, Delphinbrunnen
34 Weil der Stadt, Delphinbrunnen This particular steed looks more like a barracuda to me. True dolphins probably never very common in this part of the Black Forest. - [It is just possible that a Gaudi compatriot named Barracuda or similar did invent the barnacle encrusted Baroque style. Barrier reef moot point. In any case some un-Calvinistic splendor.]

38 Weil der Stadt, Paket Shop Important piece of Ebay infra structure. Any way to make your first million. (Most often a dry cleaner or mail order pick up point who sidelines as post office. Western Union offices would probably also do. Main qualification, an area covering presence.)
39 Weil der Stadt, Paket Shop The cardboard boxes on the sidewalk are not Ebay related. Just a waste paper collection day.

41 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle
42 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle The big 15th century family picture. Everyone but Prince Charles is present. Problem with all those pictures, most of the persona are strictly one bit players, even in the apocrypha. Slightly recast, missing footprint. Actual importance is sacrificed to the all important concept of symmetry.
The central triangle (the chairs with arm rests) will be inner family Marie, Joseph and the parents of the former, Anna and Joachim. Kleophas and Salomas will be in laws (second and third husbands of Anna). The remaining 2nd row male figure are disciple sires. They even look like true fishermen stock. Technical verdict: More or less exchangeable. The same model was clearly used for Alphaus and Salomas. As for the flanking first row females: Mary Kleophas (various spellings) may have been the daughter of Kleophas, Mary Salome a sister of Marie, reportedly childless but the photo studio did insist on a pair of twins.
43 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle The central figure. A 'pulvinarium' can be detected. Truly upholstered chairs were a later invention.
44 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle Annunciation. - I do not think that these terracotta plates (best guess, hardly a good idea to touch anything) are much older than the early 19th century. The garish 'novella' colors will be a concession to popular taste. Between Léger and Lichtenstein.
45 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle Griddle windows in all shapes and sizes.
46 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle An honor student at the Sorbonne. Only a generic verdict, great words of wisdom, the actual speech bubbles remain blank. Not sure if it could be filed as an extended form teichoscopeia. In perspective, this was very much the same panel which came up with self incriminating questions to further its own interests. (The most famous one was tax related.) Mobbing is a fact of life.
47 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle The spirit is willing... The profusely bleeding head injury is somewhat premature.
48 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle I would be angry too if the orthopedic surgeon had fixed my foot that way (the angle of the booted foot on the head is not altogether natural). The coloring of the trouser legs is also somewhat mismatched. The picture otherwise just an excuse for showing some contemporary 'Third Degree' practises.
49 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle Looks as if they found their volunteer. The shillelaghs will be collapsible. That way they will fit into your coat pocket while not in use. The name of the volunteer is usually given as Simon the Cyrenian (easily confused with Joseph of Arimathea, the tomb donor).
50 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle A clean shaven apostle (John) becames designated caretaker of Mary.
51 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle Ascension, technically so far only a resurrection. The Greek equivalents are Anastasis and Apotheosis.
52 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle Baroque side altar from Höchstetter
53 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle Pietà. The noble expression and the sordid fact. The rapier prop somewhat tautological. Front stabbed in this case.

55 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle Eustachius. Middle ear infections and cherry pits, it all adds up. Anonymous pundit, and all events occur two times, once as subject matter for a hagiography and once as Munchausen farce. Both plots may be inspired by the same Celtic source material. Minor doublet, St.Hubertus.
56 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle Achatius. He did win a prize in a debating club. More is not known.
57 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle Side alter: succor. At least two baroque wind machines were used to show the inner emotions. Roiling with empathy.
58 Weil der Stadt, Spitalkapelle Man of Sorrows, a plastered over 14th century fresco, rediscovered in 1977. You have to go on maximal rest color enhancement or you will just see the unfinished looking outlines.
Off hand: A look into the inventory folder of your current character. In any case strongly memonic. As close to an hieroglyphic aide memoire (cheatsheet) as you can get with actually using code. A word of caution, this technique will not work for the 99% of the Scriptures which are just thesauric data (or begats) without any kind of structured plot.
I detect various acabus symbols. The number three to left of the chanticleer, a 7 week day celluloid reel (the meaning of the particular shoe last motive escapes me), the sevenfold banding of the 'thyros' and a twelve tined sun. Incidentally, somebody is about to be shortchanged. I do only count 29 spilled silver coins.
Also present, a Passion Flower tool kit. The hand with the three ice shards is somewhat puzzling but the proxi...

63 Weil der Stadt, Sailerturm Early 16th century. The medieval fortifications were no match for even the primitive canons of the 30 Year War. Anti-Imperial Richelieu troops, in theory allied with the Lutheran 'Huguenots', usual foreign war inversion, took the place in 1648. Deliberate destabilization before credo.
