Open Air Museum Beuren The ticket office of the Freilichtmuseum (to use the loan rendition). First floor with 'captain's room'(the row of Southward facing windows).
BM, main building gable with dove cot
BM, main building no captain's residence without a figurehead
BM, the fields In the twilights first gleaming (actually about 2 hours after sunrise). - Utilitarian excuse, rope making. Larger order of Urticales. Some nettle skirt tradition (De vilde Svaner).
BM, the fields
BM, Borrage officinalis Dew studded borage (or star flower). French 'langue-de-boeuf'. Whatever part of the plant you want to describe first (top to bottom approach or vice versa). Utilitarian: cucumber herb. Some medical properties. Most likely meaning of the Latinized Arabic tag: (a)bu arak, father of sweat.
BM, wild einkorn Triticum monococcum. One of those long awned ancestors of rye. Apparently just as susceptible to ergot infections (Claviceps purpurea) as the polyploid, multi-rowed forms.
BM, wild einkorn
BM, long rack wagon And the meek of the earth shall inherit the highways.
BM, reed thatched theme house forgot which theme
BM, water wagon Some dislocated stave rings.
BM, water wagon Pivot ring of the front axle and the worm gear of the crank operated brake. The crank handle is somewhat obstructing, limited pivoting radius only.
BM, long rack wagon Rack wagon all set for a hay ride (the fan accessories). Particular specifications: Front and rear brakes, rear hitch, 'Leuschen'(the four props). Backdrop: The house with the air raid siren must be either a town hall or a schoolhouse.
BM, beans on trellis pole Late blooming like all climbing plants. Cat-burglar predicament. No wall scaling without convenient ladder. The top tendril sweeps out thin air. Do not know the rate of rotation.
BM, more beans fence riding beans in congenial setting
BM, meadow with rack wagon apple tree and heavy duty rack wagon
BM, the scarecrow in residence Looks like one of those hands on experience projects. Beach blanket included.
BM, the weaver house
BM, weaver house reed thatched roof
BM, weaver house The noticeable sloped wooden eaves, gravity gradient, empty in a rain water collecting cistern. This weaver house stood originally in Laichingen where well water was scarce. Usual curse of a limestone region. The cistern wall were luted (daubed) with water impermeable clay. - The roof finishes with a row of tiles. Somewhat unusual. Plaque explanation, an attempt to improve the taste of the water marginally. Not sure how much it helped but the flower pot flavor can be easily imagined.
BM, weaver house Inside out view. Kitchen table against a panoramic window. Probably the best room in the building.
BM, weaver house Some of the tools of the trade.
MB, weaver house A row of warp dividing heddles. Even and uneven numbers. In optional jargon: temporary openings in the fabric continuum will enable the passage of a weft bearing shuttle. The heddle strings are uncolored.
BM, silhouette encounter the wash house must be close
just for atmosphere Silhouette from a fairy tale book by Karl Fröhlich.
BM, wash house Firewood (semi corded), kindling, tub on a three legged trestle and a wash board. By circumstantial evidence: must be a sound studio.
BM, time of lore kitchen The brick and lime stove
BM, time of lore kitchen Who is calling the kettle black. (You probably cannot help it if you are part of the soot duct.)
BM, time of lore kitchen Chimney corner
BM, time of lore kitchen Cannot figure out the colander to frying pan ratio. Maybe some very special recipes.
BM, cradle Cradle in a 'quiet' corner. The roll over protection is duly noted. (The anti-tip ends at the ends of the runners.)
BM, carpenter's workshop The glue pot labeling did not stand the test of time, it rarely does.
BM, carpenter's workshop
BM, night stool Night stool, broken lid, slight crotch indentation in front, speckled pot. Horseshoe armrest. Chair legs and crosspieces with bamboo type ornamentation.
Beuren The town hall of the actual Beuren. Sufficiently spruced up to host a newscasting event.
Beuren Somewhat out of place French balcony, art nouveau touch. The critical part is the wall bracketing.
