Enlarge photo 1 The group that collected us from the airport! L to R.   John, Daniel, Simeon, and Pastor Charles.
Enlarge photo 2 Part of the scenery on the 6 hour car ride to the region of Kenya we were going to.
Enlarge photo 3 Zebra's along side the road.  (not in any game preserve!)
Enlarge photo 4 Rain makes getting stuck normal.
Enlarge photo 5 I guess their Hilton Hotels are a little different than ours.
Enlarge photo 6 Typical landscape in our region!  Kisii Highlands..  Lovely!
Enlarge photo 7 First stop was police station. This is the chief and his deputies. The question was.. are you here to preach the gospel? Answer: Yes! Response: You are most welcome! WE will watch over you!  We need the truth preached in Kenya.   Whew!  What a relief since this was our churches first time ever on a mission in Kenya and we did not really know what was ahead!  The chief then asked me to say a prayer and sign the guest book.  We also checked out with him when we left the village, and again prayed with them.
Enlarge photo 8 There are no cars, motorbikes, or bicycles in this village.   We rented a car with gas and driver included to deliver us to pretty close to destination.  The roads got a lot worse than this before we got there.
Enlarge photo 9 Faithful ladies of the church, who were our cooks..  the pastors wife is on the left.
Enlarge photo 10 Our Home compound.  All the generations live on the same site in different houses. One of the huts became our home for a week!
Enlarge photo 11 Extra sheets were hung for our privacy...  Toilet on right, bath on left...    Hole in ground is what the bathroom consists of..
Enlarge photo 12 The Congregation in the church..  (Pastor Charles church) After the first day, the people starting going about the village letting more and more know that the Word of God is being spoken here.. the crowd just kept growing each day!
Enlarge photo 13 This lady walked about 20 miles to come to the services, carrying my friend Shem (severly handicapped).   It was a joy to have them with us! Soon this boy will need a wheel chair of sorts to get around..  The ground is too rough for a regular wheelchair though...
Enlarge photo 14 Part of the group.  That is my friend Shem I am holding.
Enlarge photo 15 This is a meeting with Pastors and church leaders.  They had questions for us, and we for them.  The meeting went well!
Enlarge photo 16 Breakfast was hot tea with milk in it.
Enlarge photo 17 Congregation coming back from the baptism, walking through tea bushes.
Enlarge photo 18 Some of the 29 that were baptized along with some pastors.
Enlarge photo 19 Pastor Charles and his family.  They were wonderful hosts, even giving us the key to their home so we always have a place to call home in Kenya!
Enlarge photo 20 The man with the glass is Silvester.  God gave him a gift of scripture memory.  Any verse I asked him by book, chapter and verse anywhere in the bible, he was able to quote.  When I asked him how he does this...  he said, I prayed, and God gave me this gift.

Enlarge photo 22 Rain makes mud!
Enlarge photo 23 I thought this shows the hearts of our hosts!   So much joy and wonderful times to be had with them!
Enlarge photo 24 With Pastors in Gucha, Kenya.  Church is in background.
Enlarge photo 25 Faithful church ladies...  Bibles given by the Foreign Mission.
Enlarge photo 26 Baptism.  29 on this day.  Wonderful discussions were had about this topic with the pastors as well.
Enlarge photo 27 God's lovely creation!!  Wow!
Enlarge photo 28 As we were leaving this area, this young man asked for prayers for the trials and temptations facing the young in Kenya.  Then he cleaned our shoes so we would not get the rented car too dirty.

Enlarge photo 30 Typical roads! Or can you call them that?  You can see why walking is the best mode of transportation.
Enlarge photo 31 My dear friend Pastor Simeon (middle) mines these rocks with shovel, then hammer and chisel's them to pieces, which he then sells to raise money to feed his 5 growing boys and wife.
Enlarge photo 32 Chickens visted inside our house quite often! Even fought with a cat under the table for scraps!
Enlarge photo 33 Typical path to the homes.
Enlarge photo 34 Pastor Evans church.  No walls or roof, but a lot of youth!  We just stopped by to say hi, had no church service scheduled here.  However, when this many people showed up, of coarse the Word needed to be preached.  God provided!
Enlarge photo 35 The second week we stayed in a hotel since the pastor had a house full of guests for the services....   This is a school outside of our hotel.  Notice the lady teacher with the stick.  She whipped the children, and they they picked up the trash in a real hurry!
Enlarge photo 36 Walking home fromt the river with water! Typical!
Enlarge photo 37 2nd of two gifts of a chicken!  They were so happy to give, that it made receiving very easy!
Enlarge photo 38 Chad teaching the children Christian songs in English.  They learn really quickly!
Enlarge photo 39 Typical views in Kisii Highlands!
Enlarge photo 40 This is how tea is harvested!  Then the ladies carry the full baskets on their heads and walk to the buying center, sometimes many miles away.
