Pine based constellations. You can see into it whatever you want. My favorite would be a cone shaped mortar and a squatting sergeant with a peaked cap.

A tussock of dune grass. It takes variable winds for the blades to sweep out a full compass rose.

I have seen worse debris piles. Not even a discarded tire.

Burbeling beach well. Thought at first it was a broken sewer pipe but it did not smell. Clear too.

Cap des Freu
Looks like a poster for an insurance company. The name is derived from Latin 'fretum'. Whatever you can chop off. The passage between the two Balearic islands can be regarded as a channel.

Glaucous waters and a broken promontory. (Do it yourself Gibraltar: start with a lorry skip inclined by 20 deg. Add some significant content.)

Relaxed. Not sure if the suit comes with reanimation instructions.

colgado - the improvised clothes hanger - Would like to try on one. Quite possibly some built in thermal magic for braving gelid waters. (There is very little outdoor swimming between Halloween and the Semana Santa. Holds for all mainland locations. If you go off season you can book your tour just as well in the dead of winter and write off swimming altogether regardless of favorable temperature charts. No disappointment that way. Indoor hotel swimming is usually available for about 10 Euro. Guest rate. The most common service fees nowadays seem to be 2 and 10 Euro. Hardly anything in between.)

Should be the ferry to Menorca. The coastline of the smaller sister island can be dimly seen at the horizon. About 50 miles.

You can probably use the subtended angle of a ferry boat as a rude clock. No idea what good it will do you.

Between Puig de S'Aguila and Talaia de Son Jaumell (did read it at first as twin peaks but apparently proper name). The batteries nearly flat - 'à la fin des haricots' to use the correct nautical expression. Did pack the wrong spare set (not recharged). As an aside: There are no open stores in Cala Mesquida during winter. Bus service is likewise shut down. Private means of transportation strongly recommended.

Saw palmetto
The petioled fan leaf. The leaf fibers was once used for all sorts of wickerwork.  Vannerie sans osier. A set of genuine 'borrequito' baskets should be made out of 'llata' (palm fiber). (Once only utilization with minimal pleating: market day cheese wrappings.) Will skip the herbal angle. (It is usually of doubtful therapeutic value if it is over the counter. Bauble side of the great divide.)

Enhanced shadow casting. Protruding pistil and anthers and fused petals (trumpet flower). Could be something from the Catalpe family (Cape Honeysuckle et al). Should still have five petals.

Erica multiflora
Multiflower Erica. Will admit a certain Diana look. The needle strategy (reduced evaporation) works well in summer and winter. Not always the case. (Rosmarin flowers only in summer).  Inflorescence as topheavy raceme with protruding anthers and pistils.

Smilax aspera
Climbing the ratlines, a skyhook the limit. Most likely an encounter with Green Brier, Asparagus (Sparrowgrass) related. The Latin root of the latter, 'aspergations' as in holy water sprinkler, does not make too much sense. Could well be a claque on a pre Latin word.  'Smilax' is Greek for 'bindweed'. 'Aspera', most likely the same train of thought as Spanish-Arabic 'zarza' (='thorn, bramble'). Some Dr.Pepper tie in as sarsaparilla. It will become a woodruff flavored fizz candy beverage in other latitudes. Probably left out something.
