Rat Terriers
Rat Terriers go back more then 20 years here at Quilted Meadows. The first one Duke, who lived to be 18 1/2 years old was brought home by my husband, the second bought at a pet store. They had 2 litters and Molly from the second just left us at 16 years. Finding out how wonderful these dogs are,and what good farm dogs,as well as lap dogs.led to many more rat terriers. I have raised 4 litters in the past 6 years, and the last one less than a year old.
I have also met wonderful people in the rat terrier world, especially Dawn Vanaman/Fowler who now has retired her Treasured Rat Terriers. She is now a treasured friend who is doing this web site for me.
I now have three whole females,Angel,Missy and Dutches from the last litter is the 5th generation of Quilted Meadows Rat Terriers. All are registered AKC & UKC. I also have  1 retired male,Flurry and 1 retired female.Keep watch for when I feel up to raising another litter. All dogs live in my home as do the litters,I try to have them housebroken by 8 weeks old. They are very smart dogs and also enjoy working on the farm and interacting with some of the horses.

My past and former Rat Terriers, those of you that do not know the breed, Rat Terriers are a very versible dog breed, they can go from being hard working farm dogs keeping the farm rid of small  varmints, to a cuddly lap dog. They are intelligent, alert and loving, they love to be with you and do what you do, and are also content on exploring and doing their own thing! They are easily trained as long as you are consistant, making a good show dog or family pet they are always happy in their element!
