Emilio (Central Illinois)
Emilio (we call him Pappy.., it just fits), is a happy pup that loves exploring the fenced three acres he roams on, most always with his nose to the ground! A true rattie! He seems younger than the mellow age of 13/14+ years as he keeps up with his younger foster sisters albeit he does love his bed(s) and likes his naps too. He does fine with the resident cats for the most part however, he and the inside-outside cat got into a brief face off and ever since he's been cautious of her and will occasionally give a low growl when she walks by him but only when he's in his bed. I don't think for a minute he would hurt any cat as Emilio/Pappy is a mellow fellow with a very pleasant disposition!
Emilio/Pappy is a little hard of hearing and his eyesight is somewhat compromised but it doesn't slow him down much. For a pup his age his teeth are in good shape only showing wear in his front teeth. He never has a problem with strangers that come to the house and welcomes all pets. In fact he has a cute way of asking for a belly rub by going to his back, feet in the air!
I've noticed Emilio/Pappy is cautious when approaching his food bowl at meal times, and loud noises with make him leave a room. Not sure why, but probably something from his past. |
