Art Basel, the world renowned Art Festival, that takes place in Miami Beach and the Wynwood District each year first week in December, attracts millions of people, artists and dollars to our city and showcases Art from all around the world.
Our show, TAKE IT EASEL, would be a contest or an Art Clash, if you will, featuring the best graffiti artists from around the world, who come to Miami during this week against our local graffiti artists.
We now own a mobile easel / graffiti station, that we have rebuilt out of an old glass truck and redesigned by artists. It features a huge canvas on each side of the vehicle and we will drive it around the Wynwood Art District and organize a contest between the best Miami graffiti artists versus the best world renowned graffiti artist that flock to Art Basel during this action packed week. Just think of the background stories and life styles of all these artists!!
After the 5-day competition and once all the completed canvases from the artists have been assembled, the week will conclude with a huge showcase party at the famous Toe Jam Backlot on Sunday - all the art pieces will be featured and there will be a final contest with all the artists to determine the Winner of Art Basel 2016.
Another thought was to give the artists a theme or subject matter to paint about – for example something environmental like “Save the Earth”, “Go Green” or “Your Vision for The Future of our Planet” (http://www.wingmakers.com) and donating some of the proceeds of the final sales to organizations working for these causes.
This would be a great opportunity for a liquor company to offer sponsorship and we would also be soliciting one of the spray paint companies that would love to feature their paint all week on the truck around town.
