4 Introducing Soleil du Blu 5 days old. Sunny's hatch date is March 23, 2004
5 5 days old. Sunny's egg mates did not hatch. Mommy Jill turned the eggs too vigorously and cracked them.
6 Two, 16 day old African Congo Grey babies waiting for Sunny to join them in the brooder
7 Sunny pulled at 2 and 1/2 weeks and not the usual 3 weeks. A piece of the nest box bedding got lodged in his crop. Sunny had to be carefully monitored and treated with enzymes for 10 days to dissolve the wood chip.
8 25 days old. Still no down, but itty bitty pin feathers are starting to emerge. Still sporting that Kojack look! Where's his lollipop??

10 27 days old. See the pin feathers on his wings? Only a face a mother could love!
11 April 23, 2004. One month old today! Happy in the brooder with his yellow ducky. Pin feathers are coming in more and more.

16 May 1, 2004 A little wet, a lotta tired, and oh so sleepy. Sunny was very messy with his lunch today and got his first bath.

29 May 17, 2004 Six days short of being 2 months old, Sunny shows us his Caique wrestling technique!

32 May 24, 2004 2 Months and One Day Old! Sunny waiting in the reception area for his first meeting with Dr. England. Sunny is here for a general physical, DNA test to determine his sex and most important the first of two Polyoma vaccines.
33 Sunny with gentle Dr. England. Sunny weighed in at a whopping 159 grams! A happy camper Sunny was not. He yelled at Momma Roseanna almost the whole 1 hour ride home. Sunny calmed down as soon as he snuggled up with his favorite African Grey buddy in the ZooZone.

42 Mutual Preening Bud, the baby grey, and Sunny became best friends while in the brooder together. Just last week Bud protected Sunny from Baby Ekkie who was trying to bully him. Baby Ekkie has been banished to another area. No bullies allowed!

46 And being the good Caique baby that he is, he went and took a bath
47 June 16, 2004 Sunny is back at the vet's for his second Polyoma virus shot. Dr. Howe gave Momma Roseanna the good news and it is official, SUNNY IS A BOY!

50 June 21, 2004 Sunny has joined the ranks with all the other Caiques. He now has "Caique as a Hat" to add to his growing list of credits!
51 June 30, 2004 Sunny is now 3 months and one week old. Here he is hangin' outside with his beloved "Moose Team"!
52 What the heck? What is that? Where is that nice sound coming from?
53 Sunny has discovered the joy of Raffi songs. Sitting on the computer monitor has become one of his "new" favorite things to do. He has just started to "croon" along with Celine Dion and Raffi!
54 Sunny "Sinatra" has just finished with his first recording session. Here he is taking a bow for his wonderful performance!
55 July 1, 2004 Now for some Fun in the Sun and a dip in the pool
56 Now that is what I call refreshing! Ahhh.... that sun sure feeeeels great!
57 Here is Sunny in the Zoo Zone. He has now moved to new "digs" but just loves to go into the Zoo Zone and play with all his baby toys.
58 Awwwww.... here is baby ekkie Miss Scarlet. Momma Roseanna says it is time to get the Zoo Zone cleaned out and ready for Miss Scarlet's next step in becoming a "grown-up".
59 What??? Can this be???? Is this Sunny still in the Zoo Zone???
60 Sunny says,"This is MY Zoo Zone and I tain't vacating for nobody"!
61 So guess what soft hearted Mama Roseanna did? She got the other Zoo Zone out for Miss Scarlet and let Sunny keep "his" Zoo Zone. Now is Sunny loved or is he loved?
62 September 2004 Sunny and the Moose Team are now 6 months old. As you can see, Sunny is still directing the crew in their poses!

76 Summer of 2005 Sunny is all grown up. The black spots on his head have disappeared and his chest is all white

102 It is February 2, 2006, and Jill is sitting on a clutch of 4 eggs! When Jack is not on guard duty, he is busy feeding Jill. Jill talks to her eggs nonstop while in the nest box. Looks like Sunny is going to be a big brother to 4 teeny, tiny Caiques soon!
Rosanna, we are so sorry to hear of your loss. She will fly free now and join you at the Rainbow Bridge. We put our dog down last week so I know how you feel. But our love for them and their love for us will go on.

OHHH now im sooo jealous i love caiques so much and this site is so wonderful ! Im so glad someone takes the time to help find them loving homes ! IF you get any in my area please let me know id love to adopt instead of purchasing a baby! You have done a wonderful job on the site!~
