Poppet
Wendy (Mum) were sitting on the Internet chat one day and heard a funny peep, peep, peep from outside... Mum looked out the window and saw a funny looking bird running up and down in obvious distress. Mum went outside and cornered the bird and caught it.  She put it in a cage and gave it water and all different kinds of foods.  Mum had no idea what it ate let alone what it was!  Wendy tried to figure out just what this little creature was and eventually realized that it was a baby chook (chicken) who had found a way under the fence from next door.  Mum researched on the internet on how to care for chickens. There was no turning back!  Mum was in love with Poppet the Chook.  That night Mum put Poppet on her lap and stroked her while they watched TV together.  It has become their nightly ritual.

The next morning Mum let Poppet out of her cage and made the proper introductions to the rest of the family.  Lorikeets Squirt and Scruff did adopt her immediately and ...

Although it is summer here in the US, it is the dead of winter in Aussie Land. Chook, Poppets's Cockatiel brother writes:
"You know how Poppet got her mattress that her sleep on? You know how it on the floor? This did bother mum cause her know the cold do rise up through them things easy when they on the ground....her beed thinking about buying one of them canvas dog beds that be on a frame...like a camp stretcher.
Well.....lately Mimi not like using the ramp into her hutch....mum think her felled and hurt herself trying to get in there some time. So mum taked her hutch out of the frame and put it on the ground and her happy to hop in and out there.

So then her look at the frame....and Poppet's mattress...and thunk that the mattress would fit inside the base and it do....birdfectly.
So Mimi on the ground floor....and Poppet have a new bed
