small boat regatta
7. small boat regatta  (January 14, 2005)
The crusiers here in Mazatlan have so much boat maintenance going on that they just had to come up with a deversion worthy of stopping the boat projects. So a group of them came up with the 1st annual samll boat regatta. There were lots of rules of coarse but the "Basic" rule for you America's cup followers was no boat could be longer then 18" and not wider then 9". NO Multihulls and NO foam of any kind. It was a plastic hull boat that took the day. Of course to make it more interesting there was heavy side betting and cash awards for various aspects of the boat deisgn competition.

Juarez Market
9. Juarez Market  (January 2, 2005)
The first Sunday of the year we by passed the Bruja beach to wonder through the Juarez Market. It's in a section of Mazatlan called Juarez and they have sort of a fea market combined with produce, resturants and even street barbers. It takes place next to a church in a plaza and along the streets near by, a lot of fun and we'll be back for more!

San Javiercito
10. San Javiercito  (January 5, 2005)
One morning there was an annoucement on the local cruisers radio net about a planned trip to a local attraction. This was not your usual star attaction with all the lights and glitter, oh no this was a special low key, cultural and family related attraction. The cost was 5 pesos ($0.50US) plus an 8 peso bus fare each way. So totaled, it was $21.00 pesos (or $1.85US) nice way to spend a few hours of our afternoon.  Enjoy!
