Salty

Salty is 3 years old and approximately 16lb Rat Terrier boy who needs to find a patient adult only home where he can relearn that humans can be trusted. He is very smart, impeccably house trained and well behaved. He needs a home where he is respected and listened to as he has some big feelings and doesn’t respond well to being handled improperly. 1 Hi! My name is Salty. I am a super handsome, super smart 3 year old boy.	2 I had a hard start in my life so now I take my time deciding to trust humans. Did you know not all humans are nice to dogs? But some are great I am learning.
3 Because I had a rough time, the vet says I have a lot of anxiety so she gave me some medication to help with that. It is helping me learn how to communicate in new ways.	4 I Enjoy wearing coats and sweaters when it is very cold because my hair is very short and fine. I am soft and like to have my back petted.
5 Red is my favorite shade of grey (i always choose this color for some reason when given a choice)	6 Sometimes my ears decide to stand up.
7 When they stand up I look almost exactly like my foster brother (he is in back). Isn’t that funny?	8 We are pals - my collar is the red one.
9 Hello?	10 When I am comfortable I like to stretch out to relax.
11 I also enjoy dog beds.	12 I like to play with toys.
13 I like to squeak them	14 And I like to play fetch and tug too.
15 When I first got to my foster home I was guarding my food bowl so no one would take it from me. So my foster mom had me eat alone in the living room. Now I can sit and eat politely near the other dogs in my foster home. But I am still learning the rules.	16 I am learning to sit and take treats gently with the other dogs in my foster home. It is a work in progress.
17 I like to lean on my humans or be near to them once I know they are safe and won’t hurt me.	18 I have also learned to share space with the other dogs here even though sometimes I prefer to be by myself.
19 I love to be outside for walks and play time when the weather is good.	20 See how handsome I am?
21 I play and run and chase the other dogs here when we are outside.	22 I am inquisitive and smart and I come when you call my name in a happy voice.
23 Running is super fun	24 Also sniffing and finding things to investigate is fun. I am a terrier after all!
25 I am good when traveling too! Just do not let strangers get too close to me.	26 Do you have time for a smart salty boy like me? I have so much love to give if you can just be patient while I learn to trust you.

Such a handsome sweet boy! I wish I lived closer. I would love to take him on walks and to play with my baby girl rat-cha.
