Introduction to This Webpage, 5/25/2017

I'm presently using this website mainly for misc. notes and emails I reference to folks.

We have photos from our foreign trips to over 60 countries, ~250 cities, many revisited. These include Canada (many fishing trips), Europe (including England & Scotland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, & Spain), Russia, Japan, China, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and a many more places. I hope to include more of these photos soon, although I've been saying that forever and the time needed to do it never seems to come. In the meantime, I've included some pix from some cruises we've taken plus some other odds & ends.

A favorite subject of mine is the relatively new discipline of Science and Religion. The pertinent notes on this posted here are in, more or less, reverse chronological order. They should be looked at in this order, according to the Album dares: A. Science and Religion (April 28, 2006) B. Science & Religion from Biologist (February 16, 2007) C. How the Universe Can and Might Be (May 6, 2007) D. Email Re. S&R - A New Twist (April 11, 2007) E. Science and Religion-Widely Ignored (August 23, 2008) F. "Cosmic Jackpot" Revisited (November 6, 2010). Others follow more or less chronologically.  I've submitted the latest one here for publication.

Another topic of great interest to me is "climate change" and the pertinent scientific facts vis-a-vis the claims of many in government and in the media.

Some of my postings here include email threads on current events and politics from a group I established including small business owners, medical doctors, lawyers, brokers/CPAs, scientists, engineers, journalists, and Joe-Six-Packs.

Some of the entrees here have been published in one form or another. Not all of these are indicated.

JOKES, including some ribald ones from places similar to the the Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce no less, can be found in Album #198 as of May 25, 2017 - a higher number if later (scroll down).

RESUME: A full resune is posted at Album #182 and an autobiography at #183 as of May 25, 2017- a higher number if later.

NOTE: FOR MOBILE DEVICES, iOS Devices (iPads, iPhones), etc., VIEW ALBUMS IN .PDF. For desktops, most albums in Word use the .docx format - if you cannot open the Word documents, use the PDF option.

To those who wish to contact me, I'm always available at mpfricke7@gmail.com.

4. Two Books I've Written  (May 7, 2019)

These two books are available at Amazon in both Kindle and softcover editions. Enclosed here are post-publication drafts. Soviet Science Spies is about a nuclear physicist caught up in conflicts with the Soviet Union in the 1960s, and the science background story is factual. Russian Science Spies is about the same thing but occuirs in the present day, and the "science" is based on gross extrapolations of fact. While the first book has erotic scenes, the second book has sexually explicit passages.

Why Oh Why Did Hillary Lose The Election
9. Why Oh Why Did Hillary Lose The Election  (December 13, 2017)
The Democrats and the mainstream media are still blaming Russian collusion with Trump for Hillary’s loss. Special Prosecutor Mueller and his friends in the FBI are fishing like mad to find anything that might, to whatever degree, agree with that charge.

With all that publicity, many people now can’t see why Hillary lost either. This Album contains a few speculations.

I had written (and published) a reconciliation of these doctrines. But a terrific guy, almost-priest, who's attending the seminary, gave me far better answers from his studies than I had. His accounts of St. Aquinas's reflections clarified them for me, for the first time. His backgroud is obviously far better than my physics backgroud for tackling such dillemas.

This is first book I've read spelling out the differences between Islam and Judeo-Christianity, without regard to the PC that has so effectively hidden them, with replete quotes from the Qur'an and thoroughly referenced.

If you believe only some groups of rebel “radical Islamists" are our enemies, and that most Moslems want to be our friends, you have sadly been brainwashed by the MSM and owe it to yourself to look at the facts

Have you heard the Obama campaign's claim, continually repeated in the liberal media, that Romney wants to raise taxes on the poor and middle classes but not on the rich?  In fact, it's Obama's plan to raise taxes on the lower income classes.  Romney just wants to leave things alone until a fairer plan can be crafted and passed by Congress.

This is covered here in some emails (in reverse chronological order).

Science and Ultimate Reality DVD-Windows
144. Science and Ultimate Reality DVD-Windows

The purpose of this meeting was to honor of John Wheeler's 90th birthday and his many contributions to quantum mechanics, cosmology, and information science by promoting a freewheeling debate on these topics vis-à-vis the reality we perceive.  The Q/A  sessions are particularly fascinating.

TO VIEW:  Open this Album and click on the arrow “Click Here To Start”, and you’re offered a new menu (note: this new window may appear behind the first one; click the top of the first window to see it).  On this page the first menu displayed corresponds to the top tab on the left, “Intro and Keynote Talk”.  Starting with this page, e.g.  viewing the Tribute to John A Wheeler, the Intro by Freeman Dyson, the Keynote by Zeilinger, and the comments of Panelists, you can then access the other tabs on the left of the page.  In each tabbed section, the Q/A occurs in the comments of Panelists.   After viewing individual talks or sessions, click on the upper left of the screen to return to the main menu.

NOTE:  So far I've only been able to make this work on PC’s, not Mac's.  Also, in the Keynote by Zeilinger, and possibly some of the talks, the window on the right doesn't fill.

Global Warming Fears Cool Off
196. Global Warming Fears Cool Off  (April 13, 2009)

A physician friend of mine asked me about the present status of the global warming craze, which was supported by one of his colleagues. This was my reply.

By the way, I have no quarrels with the research budget for global warming, only with pouring tens of billions of our tax dollars, especially in this economy, into remedial actions that have no basis in scientific fact.

202. Environment Variables at Apartment  (November 30, 2008)
Some pix here show the interesting changes of views from our apartment.  We have occasional clouds in the morning. In these pictures the morning clouds were almost up to our 21st floor: the “island” seen isn’t one – it’s the top of Mt. Soledad in La Jolla - and the building seen isn’t floating in the clouds. There are also some pictures of sunsets.

How the Universe Can and Might Be

Science & Religion - A New Twist
237. Science & Religion - A New Twist  (April 10, 2007)
The idea of multiple universes (or a multiverse) has become the most popular escape hatch for scientists and philosophers who wish to assert that there is no purpose to human life, that humans are just a random byproduct of the laws of nature.

An eminent physicist, Paul Davies, has just published a new argument about the fallaciousness of that position which, I think, is important to share.

Three recordings per above Album with yrs truly on bass (first screen) then some additions.

Click on the LINKS, not the black screens.

You might have to download QuickTime for some (free).

Adddition 1: One more by ear

Addition 2: 4 Golden Oldies with me on bass added Sept 2008 (third screeen). I’ve dusted off my electric bass in the past two weeks and have always liked these old ones enough to record them today, again substituting the original bass lines with my own.

Addition 3:  "Are You Lonesome Tonight" added May 2009 (fourth screen). I recorded this one which has me singing (and talking) as well as playing bass.

Addition 4:  "You'll Never Walk Alone" added May 2009 (fifth screen). This is just a sing-along, no vocal reverb as in "Are You Lonesome Tonight" and no bass added.
