DMI Field Cultivator
This was our new DMI field cultivator (45') as it sat on dealers lot. It exists in several bundles. We wanted to do the setup

Setup
Ron & Don install warning lights on rear of field cultivator in our shop. Nice winter project

Planting
This was first corn planted in 2002. We're on the home farm here. We're just getting planter depth-cover set. All went well

9882-TwSilo4
Chickweed areas are turned under w/DMI field cultivator & NH tractor. Ron is driving NH 9882. Good soil conditions this day-just a "little" dust
Enlarge photo 7enlarge 21KB, 320x240

Bean Plant
Planting beans in drier conditions. Very good soil conditions. Dirt is freshly field cultivated. Field cultivator stays only a short time ahead of planter. No herbicides on the ground-only post emergence

9882 fc 1
After rains stopped, we got back into fields & it had started drying fairly fast as seen from the dust. Still, good conditions

Rock Box
Self-engineered & built rock box served well this year. It's rugged and you don't have to lift rocks very high-relatively
Enlarge photo 10enlarge 13KB, 320x179

water1
Ponding can often be a problem following 3"+ rains. Tile is ample in this area. Corn not yet planted here due to wet conditions previous to this rain

11
White Grubs
Grubs were a major pest this spring in corn. These are the grub from a Japanese beetle. The early-planted corn got hit bad in some places. Sometimes 10-20% stand reduction. Grubs chew roots & kill plant.

Filling pesticide
One of our local pesticide dealers fills his own containers w/herbicide. This machine is provided by the herbicide mfg. You can request whatever amount you want in containers-first yr for machine-worked great

Hagie 2100
Spraying corn in spring of 2002 for grass & broadleaves. Notice the uneveness & size of corn in foreground-this was former sod area and frost had hurt the corn a week before. More frost damage in mulch conditions

VVL
Used a split application of glyphosate on RR beans. This is first weed flush following tillage/plant. 100% weed control following application
Enlarge photo 18enlarge 32KB, 320x240
18
dandelion
There were a few isolated dandelion plants this year. Glyphosate (low rate) took care of them in RR beans
Enlarge photo 19enlarge 35KB, 288x320
19
tramline 2
This is a tramline experiment we tried in one bean field this year. We shut off one bean row @ planting time & it was exceptionally easy to follow proper rows with sprayer
Enlarge photo 20enlarge 35KB, 240x320
20
tramline 3
Closeup of tramline. Weed control was of absolutely NO issue. 100% control w/glyphosate. I do use wheeltrack nozzles however
Enlarge photo 21enlarge 39KB, 320x277
21
marestail
Marestail plants were also easily controlled by glyphosate. Though some are reporting glyphosate resistant marestail
Enlarge photo 22enlarge 30KB, 320x240
22
Bfld kochia
We operated a "new" farm this yr and experienced kochia for the first time. Discovered patches when sidedressing NH3. Sprayed with Tough/Atz shortly after this photo & got 100% control
Enlarge photo 23enlarge 34KB, 320x240
23
kochia dead 1
These are kochia skeletal remains shortly after Tough application using "drops" for better penetration. Looks like a good rescue if needed in future

24
Japanese beetles
It's almost getting to be a contest between Japanese beetles & CRW to see who can finish off the corn silks. Both bugs do a lot of damage in our area

Hopper bin
2nd year of hopper bin use. It empties easily into swing-around hopper

Fans
Fans look almost new when painting is completed. Kurt did a good job. Paint work needs to be done approximately every 5 yrs

33
Unload on-the-go
Unloading on the go. Corn was a little wetter (25%) than we normally like to start at, but there were some ears dropping from husks due to weak shanks
Enlarge photo 34enlarge 17KB, 320x182
34
4010-auger-unloading
Inaugural run for 4010. Only problems were loose fuel line & inop block heater. We were close enough to bin site that we unloaded directly into auger for a while
Enlarge photo 35enlarge 32KB, 320x240
35
Hitch
Bergmann hitch really makes hooking wagons carefree. Fork on tractor hitch guides shaft fastened to wagon up so the pindle hitch latches.
Enlarge photo 36enlarge 33KB, 240x320
36
Hitch safety
When hauling necessitates travel on road-safety pin & light wire are utilized. Safety pin prevents cable from pulling release jaw. Lights include rotary beacon, turn signals, & tail lights on wagons
Enlarge photo 37enlarge 24KB, 320x240
37
Looking down
The view from atop bin. Wagon unloading is trouble free job when corn is less than 23% moisture

We have implement status switch mounted on chisel plow. This farm pulls fairly easy. Normally runs 13.5-14.5 A/hr depending on farm/soil types
