Salton Sea
I drove down to Palm Desert with my friend Niles to see David Sedaris. We got there early and decided to check out the Salton Sea.

An eerie calm lay over the sea.

That's not a sandy beach. It's a mixture of salt formations, crustacean skeletons, and fish bones. Pass the tanning butter!

These pelicans are born brown, but the salt bleaches them white. (I made that up.)

Because of the high salinity, everything floats higher in the water. (I didn't make that up.)
