Restones

Signs to look for in Restones/Rebeads

Look for colors that are not something you have seen D&E use in the past.  The database is a good place to look for color combinations. Many of the restones are done in color combinations that would be popular today and not what would have been popular in the 1960's.

Look to see if any of the prongs are not totally flat against the stones.  However do not say something is a restone just because some prongs are slightly popped as that does happen, but if most of the piece is that way that is a red flag.

For rebeading, look at the shape of the loops on the head pins.  On D&E they are totally round and the wire is pretty heavy gauge.  On most of the rebeads the loops are more oval and the wire is a smaller gauge.

You can also see more restones that I are not my photos so I saved them to a pinterest album.
