This was a design they did in many colors, a few of which are shown here.  It is not common to see this prong design in D&E.

This is the only example I know of with all these strange prongs.  Also the filigree back on that brooch is very unusual.

It does also come in other colors.

Sometimes in a design of mostly navettes you will find the center chaton has multiple prongs.

For some reason often when you see this givre stones with beads over them the givre stones are multi-pronged.

In this design the large chatons on the necklace are multi-pronged but not the ones on the rest of the set.  I am guessing it was done for more support for the necklace, but this is a guess, not something Mr D. said.

It is not common to see tiny chatons multi-prongs in D&E.  But for some reason when you do they are most often in unusual designs for D&E.  A design that you would not normally thing of as D&E like this one which is unusual because of these beads.

Again those little chatons are multi-pronged.  This design is for Caviness.  Often Caviness design by D&E is unusual looking in design and construction.

This shows the loop prongs that D&E used.  As you can see they only used them on beads, pearls, and in the later years cabochons.  I have also found one to two examples in which they were used in later years with rhinestones.  However I am unsure  if at some time someone replaced cabochons with rhinestones or maybe D&E designed if for cabochons but a customer came in and wanted rhinestones instead in the settings.

You will notice though unlike other designers these loop prongs are not bent over the stone, they are just on the side of the stone.
