This is primarily where we snorkeled at Rum Point.  It's amazing how much variety of marine life we saw considering it's not much of a reef.  Overall we were pretty happy with spending hours here.

Crab and his friend, a peacock flounder.  The flounder was following the crab.

I followed this crab for a while.  First time we've seen a crab in all our snorkeling.  Quite exciting!

Hey lady, you take one more picture of me without paying me royalties and I'll pinch you with my claws!  ;-)

Peacock Flounder.  I'm always excited to spot one of these, usually very well camouflaged in the sand.

Found another Peacock Flounder on another day (or maybe it's the same one...who knows!)

I love this guy!  He looks like he is smiling all the time (unlike the flounder which looks like it is frowning).  Very friendly!

Baby Barracuda hanging out under the Rum Point dock.  I think there are now 3 'cudas plying the waters around Rum Point...

Ahhhh Big Barry the Barracuda, resident 'cuda at Rum Point.  We could swear he has grown since last we saw him in March 2010!!

I was watching this Foureye Butterflyfish when something caught the corner of my eye...

Yep, there was a Lionfish hiding under the rock!

Beautiful but very destructive to the ecosystem in the Caribbean, and poisonous!

Actually it turned out there were 2 Lionfish!!

We kept coming back to check out the Lionfish and everyday we came back, they were still there.  On our last day, we only saw one of them and it had moved to the other side of the rock as it was quite wavy and was probably getting battered by the waves in its original spot.

Report all sightings of Lionfish to the Cayman Dept. of Environment.  There is now also a Facebook Group page where you can report it to (DOE Lionfish Culling Group).
We reported the 2 Lionfish that we saw at Rum Point to Red Sail Sports (we were not sure at that time we were there who to report it to).  The response was along the lines of 'Yeah, they're just all over the place now and we are not equipped to catch them.'  Hmmmm.... no offer to take down the info and pass it on to the proper authorities.  Quite disappointed in how they handled that.  Needless to say we did not book a snorkel trip with them, which we had planned to!!

This is the only place I've snorkeled where I've seen a Yellow Stingray.  It was there last time in March 2010 too...

Houndfish... there were plenty of them swimming near the surface of the water

We finally see a Lobster!  Hook gets the credit on finding this one.  Actually, I spotted another one on the opposite rock.  Pretty cool!

We did not see hundreds of sea stars when we went, the most we saw were 3.  It was still pretty neat to see them in the wild.

Cushion Sea Stars at Cayman Kai.  We were joking that it looks just like Hook (my hubby) and Moosie (me)... Hook is usually tanned while Moosie is always not-quite-so-tanned even after days in the sun.  Haha.
