Vienna, Venice, Paris are on our itinerary. I will try to take as many pictures of the people and places we see as possible then upload them to this site daily from internet cafes, if all goes as planned. I'll also try to give a brief written description in this space of what we are up to. 4-7-08 Salsburg internet cafe, wonderful trip so far. lots of pics, wierd keeboard, sorry! Long flight, everyone healthy and happy. Learned tons about the Hapsburgs who ruled this area of teh world for several centuries, with their palaces and monuments. Vienna was great, fantastic concert Sunday night, lots of great sights and interesting food...Indonesian Saturday, and pancake ham and cheese restaurant Sunday. In the Alps now, snowy and cold, "Sound of Music" country. Everyone is doing great, no one even misses home a bit! Will try to be more descriptive with pics later, enjoy them and thanx for looking.
4-8-08 Cafe in Ca di Valle outside Venice tonite, slow loading puter, can,t see what goes up>! Whatever pics you see,remember we were giuided on a great tour of Salzburg yesterday, birthplace of Mozart and site of filming Sound of Music Von Trapp family story. We stayed in Tolfe, Austria last night, way up in the Alps with lots of mountain peaks and lots of snow...fantastic place and experience. Drove to Innsbruck this a.m., great little "old town" area to explore and marvel at the ancient architecture and village stuff...not to mention shopping for some folks. Tower to climb for fantasdtic views of topwn and Alps. Back in the bus to Italy, yay, stopped for impromptu visit to Verona, saw Juliette's balcony and 3rd largest Roman cloiseum left in teh world, called the "Arena", almost perfect preservation inside really impressive. Neat old town in other respects too. Then back aboard the bus to our seaside stop for the next 2 nights. Good food, nice rooms, a little funky in the decor department. WIll try to put up lots of pics now. Tomorrow is Venice via water taxi, guided tour, and gondola rides plus free time in town. Everyone is happy and healthy, wonderful travelling partners, who cares about home?

4-09-08 BAck in Ca di Valle after a long day in Venice. FAntastic water'taxi ride into the city this a.m., awesome to see this place from the water for the first time. Great tour of the St. Marks Square area by a local guide, then off on our own to explore the hundreds of streets, alleys, canals, campos and plazas. You always get lost, but can navigate back to the correct spot if you know the secret. MAny of us rode the gondolas, well worth the time and expense. Doges castle, prison, Campanile tower, many other sights and experiences. BAck to hotel via water taxi and bus for supper. Early morning tomorrow, drive to Florence, spend a lonmg afternoon there, then 12 hour night train to Paris...our first experience sleeping on a train as a group, should be interesting. Everyone's doing fine, no worries.
NO LUCK uploading pictures tonight, and cannòt solve problem from this darn internet cafe. Sorry no new pics...these I am looking at are really great! I'll try to post at a better computer place later, maybe tomorrow in Florence, if not then Paris later. Thanks again for visiting.

4-9-08 Missing narrative from memory: We left Ca di Valle by bus for Florence, but had a chance to stop at Verona on the way, what a great surprise! Home of Romeo and Juliet, saw Juliet's balcony and her statute with the strange legend about rubbing her breast. Also saw third-largest Roman coliseum left in the world, called the Arena, perfect condition inside and still used for events and shows today. On to Florence, beautiful place with ancient art history, sculptures, Medici stories and buildings, lots to tell. Guide toured us all around, then free time to wander the city, get lost, snake through narrow streets and find adventures and connect back with the group to catch the night train to Paris. Sleep berths were 6 to a compartment, stacked three high on each side. Took 12 hours to get to Paris, ate breakfast on the train, unloaded to a bus for a guided motor tour of main Paris sights, then to the hotel to clean up and rest a bit. The afternoon was on foot and via Metro and train, to Mont Martre highest point in Paris, topped by Sacre Coeur, beautiful ancient church. Awesome views of Paris from up there. Artist colony and lots of shops and cafes up there too. Next day in Paris was long and fantastic: rail and metro all over town to Louvre museum, Moulin Rouge area, Notre Dame cathedral, Latin Quarter, Luxembourg Park, Bateaux Mouche boats along the Seine, Eiffel Tower trip up (some all the way to the tippy-top), plus more, and snacks and crepes along the way. Got back to hotel after midnight, slept great and up next morning to return home via De Gaulle airport, New York, and finally WPB.
We had a great trip! These are just snapshots of the highlights, trying to get people in the pics, not worried to much about scenery. We saw so much more than you see here, look at pics from others to get more detail, and for sure listen to their stories...everyone had unique and fun adventures. Best part was our guide Aidan, and the Palm Beach County folks in our group. Thanks everyone for a wonderful trip!
