enlarge 274KB, 1024x679 4 Lichen-0350.nef Driving along highway 64, north of Bald Knob, Arkansas, I stopped to photograph a panoramic view of the valley to my south, only to find a much more interesting image at my feet.

enlarge 241KB, 866x1024 16 DSC09570-Edit More of the Symmetree Series are in folders with that title. This was image was created from a detail photograph of an oak tree in my back yard.
enlarge 288KB, 608x1024 27 DSC01711-Edit-3 This is one of a series dealing with trees, layered to produce symmetric designs.

enlarge 282KB, 1024x768 29 PT Pond 1 Original This photograph was taken with an iphone, using the app proHDR. What appears to be a reflection in water was actually the roof of my PT Cruiser, which I used to steady the iphone during the HDR exposures. Below, is a series of photographs with variations on the theme, as I explored the rubber stamp tool, curves, and filters in Photoshop. Enjoy.

enlarge 153KB, 1024x941 31 DSC 3445-Edit.psd Who doesn't like fall leaves. Neutralizing the context makes these leave pop.
enlarge 129KB, 1152x652 32 Backyard Cardinal Variation-.psd Taking the color out of the context really makes the red of the cardinal stand out.

enlarge 100KB, 680x1024 35 DSC 2334-Edit I need to see if Coca Cola is interested in this monolithic appearing advertisement...that's seen better days due to being on the receiving end of target practice.
enlarge 72KB, 1024x676 36 DSC 4463 Since taking this photograph on a stormy evening, this little house along highway 64 in the Arkansas Delta has been turned into a roadside business.
enlarge 292KB, 1024x768 37 PT Pond 2 The houses and poles have been edited out of the iPhoto image.
enlarge 309KB, 1024x768 38 PT Pond 6 Poles in the original iPhoto were edited out, after which the Curves tool in Photoshop was used to create this sunrise look (I was looking east), by enhancing the reflections on the top of my bronze colored PT Cruiser.
enlarge 194KB, 1024x768 39 PT Pond 5 After editing out the distracting houses and light poles, the iPhoto was tweaked with a filter to give the painted look and the color warmth was increased.
enlarge 131KB, 1024x768 40 PT Pond 6 For variation, using Photoshop I lowered the saturation to create this black and white version.
enlarge 136KB, 1024x680 41 Arkansas Delta Reflections Original-0641.psd This photograph is, as shot. The next two are variations created with post-processing in Lightroom and/or Photoshop.
enlarge 164KB, 1024x680 44 Sky Texture-0476.psd As I walked to the car at the end of the day, this is the sky that stopped me in my tracks. The entire dome of the sky was filled with this texture of altocumulus clouds.
enlarge 160KB, 1024x680 45 Sky Texture-.psd Neutralizing the context and then enhancing the color in the lamp makes this a more interesting image.
enlarge 71KB, 680x1024 46 DSC 1419 The tie-down cord for our bamboo curtains, at the right time of day, makes for some great light and shadow.
enlarge 94KB, 1024x1001 47 DSC 2274.psd This would make a nice add for the New China restaurant in my town...as the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
enlarge 101KB, 553x1024 48 DSC 6251.psd Shadows from the tree outside cast onto our blinds. Light & shadow is what photography is about.
enlarge 111KB, 749x1024 49 DSC 2546.psd Again, light and shadow, the essence of photography.
enlarge 268KB, 1024x677 50 Ice Morning HDR.psd iPhone, or phone camera technology in general, is improving. This photograph was taken with the help of HDR Pro, an app that scans the image for correct exposure and then combines two images that are exposed for light and dark areas of the scene. You just have to hold the camera phone very still while it's taking the exposures.
enlarge 176KB, 1024x766 51 IMG 1802.psd Ice is Nice...for cold drinks, ice skating, and photography.
enlarge 249KB, 1024x651 52 IMG 1805.psd HDR morning #2. HDR, high definition resolution, is achieved by taking two or more photographs of the same subject, at different aperture settings, then combining them into one image. In this case, using Photoshop.
enlarge 185KB, 1024x678 53 Stormy Morning.psd This is an HDR (High Definition Resolution) Photo, taken with a Nikon D300 camera. Two photos, merged in Photoshop's HDR processing. HDR makes it possible to merge the bright distance light with the dark clouds and dark tree while revealing detail in all areas of the scene. I had to chase this incoming storm to the edge of town to find a spot free of power lines and city clutter.
enlarge 253KB, 1024x642 54 Sunset HDR This was my first experiment with HDR (High Definition Resolution). A bit garish.
enlarge 142KB, 836x1024 55 DSC 3083.psd I stumbled across this composition at Marlsgate, a nineteenth century mansion near Little Rock, Arkansas.
