VANCE "SONNY"'S OBITUARY
U.S. Veteran  
Vance “Sonny” Feyereisen Jr. was born March 15, 1938, the first of nine children to Vance and Lucille (Tagtow) Feyereisen. He grew up on the family homestead east of Iona. Sonny attended the Star School in Iona and graduated from Gregory High School in 1956.
Sonny attended college in Vermillion and Southern at Springfield. He served in the US Army. After he was discharged from the Army, Sonny completed college and taught school in a few places including Springfield and Burke.
Sonny married Geraldine Schrader on January 23, 1965. To this union, four sons and one daughter were born
They lived in Gregory and Burke and later moved to Iona where they farmed the land, raised many animals to include: pigs, sheep, and Holstein milk cows. In 1987 they moved to town, where Sonny drove the milk truck and worked for the Gregory Grain Elevator.
Sonny enjoyed his children and grandchildren, he attended many ball games and often treated them to his famous homemade ice cream. He also liked to talk politics, play cards, and spent many hours on the computer.
After a lengthy illness, Sonny passed away on February 4, 2020 at the Avera Gregory Hospital at the age of 81.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, brother Verlynn “Pat” Feyereisen, and two sisters Ruth Borszich and Robin Vavra.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 55 years Geraldine, son Jaden of Burke and his children Kyle, Kalissa, and Kamille Feyereisen, son Jim (Susan) of Gregory and their children Natasha (KC) Martin, Mackenzie (Todd), Jacey and Peyton Feyereisen, son Joe of Gregory and sons William & Cooper, daughter Jill (Zack) of Green Bay, WI, and their children Jordyn, Aaryn, Edyn and Christyn Ball, and son Josh (Whitney) Feyereisen of Dallas, SD. He is also survived by two brothers Gary and Brad (Tennae) Feyereisen of Gregory, three sisters Carolynne “Cookie” Feyereisen of Omaha, NE, Denice Zeisler and Beth (John) Raschke of Gregory, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and his best friend Dennis Kenzy.
