Funeral services for Leonard “Butch” Boggs, age 70, of Winnetoon, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills, Nebraska. Reverend Terry Huber will officiate, with burial in Christ Lutheran Cemetery.

Military Honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1151, American Legion Post 74, Army National Guard Honor Guard, and American Legion Riders.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton, Nebraska, with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service.

Butch died Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at Avera Creighton Care Centre.

Leonard Ray “Butch” Boggs, son of Leonard and Elaine (Hoffart) Boggs, was born January 16, 1949, at Plainview, Nebraska. He graduated from Creighton High School. After graduation, Butch entered the United States Army from which he retired in 1989. He served his country during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Alaska for two years and Germany for one year. Butch was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas when he retired from the Army after 20 years.

On July 12, 1985, Butch was united in marriage to Vivian Barnes in Norfolk, Virginia. After Butch was discharged from the Army he served as Knox County Veteran Service officer for 23 years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills. Butch was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1151 and American Legion Post 74.

Butch is survived by his wife, Vivian Boggs of Winnetoon; children, Justin Boggs and wife Amanda, Lisa Taylor and husband Preston, and Cindy Cevora and husband John all of Virginia; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Tom (Lorna) Boggs of Neligh, Barbara Boggs of Winnetoon, and Sandy Boggs of Norfolk; and nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Elaine Boggs; sister, Linda Kallhoff; and son, Joseph Handel.  RIP Soldier
