Putt Kolm, 79, of Cedar Rapids, NE passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at the Boone County Health Center, Albion, NE
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2022, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, NE with Pastor Mick Goc officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, NE.  Military Rites will be conducted by the Dan Cox American Legion Post #44 of Cedar Rapids, and the Army Funeral Honor Guard.  Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the church.
Levander Funeral Home of Cedar Rapids, NE is in charge of arrangements.
Gayland Lee “Putt” Kolm, son of Kenneth and Esther (Cain) Kolm was born on March 30, 1942 at St. Edward, NE.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Putt attended country school and graduated from Primrose High School in 1960.  On February 3, 1964, Putt entered the United States Army and was stationed in Korea.  He was honorably discharged on February 2, 1966.
On January 18, 1969, Putt was united in marriage to Patricia Towey at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  The couple lived and farmed west of Cedar Rapids.  In 1981 they moved to town.  Putt worked part-time as a truck driver for Pillen Family Farms.
He was a member of the Dan Cox American Legion Post #44 of Cedar Rapids, NE.  Putt collected tractors and loved to attend and compete in the area tractor pulls.  His biggest joy was his grandchildren, he enjoyed attending all their sporting and school events.  He spent many hours at coffee at the C-store and Frey’s Pub & Grub in Cedar Rapids.  Putt never met a stranger and would help anyone whenever needed.
He will be missed by his wife Pat of Cedar Rapids, NE; four children: Dave of Elgin, NE; Kristine (Tom) Pennisi of Norfolk, NE; Deanna (Kevin) Kruse of Albion, NE; Allen (Metka) of Norfolk, NE; nine grandchildren: Paige (Dylan) Wieser of Palmer, NE; Seth (Kelsie) Kolm of Norfolk, NE; Aaron (Taylor) Kolm of Madison, NE; Kyra and Nolan Kruse of Albion, NE: Maddie and Dylan Kolm of Elgin, NE: Kyler and Mariah Kolm of Norfolk, NE; five great-grandchildren Josh, Everly, and Emma Kolm; Cam and Redden Wieser; brother Ron (Mary Ellen) Kolm of Fremont, NE; along with many other relatives and friends.
Putt is preceded in death by his parents; brother Michael Kolm, and nieces Tracey and Carrie.  RIP Soldier
