If you ever build a pond, make sure it is twice the size you initially want. Here is the latest installment of our "we need a bigger pond" saga.

Jim and Tooters moved half of the old top pond and have started clearing the way for digging the new pond.
You can see the general layout of the pond here. Notice the old pond to the right. It has to stay there until we finish the new one. Miss Wobbles has her back turned as a comment on "more work".
Jim and Tooters just beginning the digging of the new pond. We had not had rain for quite some time here.
Here is a beautiful shot of our Georgia Clay. It has the consistency of concrete, or slime, depending on what the moisture content is.
Here is Jim inspecting his digging. It has gone VERY SLOWLY up to this point because the ground is like concrete. Wonderful Georgia Clay!
This is after the rain that came down all at one time. We got 4 inches in about 4 hours.
Dudley thought he'd inspect the hole. It was still muddy after the rain, and the boy doesn't like to get his feet muddy.
At long last, the hole is dug. Jim has also started the Castle Block wall on the outside of the pond.
Here is my patient Gargoyle. He will be moving to the new pond, but I haven't figured out exactly where yet.
Here is HoHo inspecting her dead thing she found. It received a good rolling in shortly after this. I never did figure out what it was, nor did I even find it.
This is the underlayment for the liner. We have had this carpet for about 10 years rolled up in the garage. The new EPDM liner is laying in front of Jim.
The liner is in, and the hose is starting to fill it up. It took 3-1/2 hours to fill the new pond. Hopefully we won't have to do this very often.
Dudley and Moonpie are inspecting the partially completed pond to make sure we haven't forgotten anything. I took the plants from part of the old pond and put them in the new one to get the good bacteria started. Now the real water work begins.
The old pond is out, the cap is installed on the block wall, and the plants are in.
Tooters and Jim are working on the patio extension where the old pond was. Pouring concrete with her Dad is Tooters' favorite thing to do. Actually, anything done with her Dad is her favorite.
Here is our finished pond. The patio is done, the new yard sale table is installed, and the pergola is in. After doing this, we've decided to put metal roofing on top of the pergola on the large patio. "One thing leads to another..."
