Well this is the only "real" rust
I have found on this car and it is
not that bad. Just some on the surface and enough to get rid of the
paint. Easy fix....
Hole in the floor was for a aftermarket 3 speed shifter.

prep the castiron 833od. The cast
cast was pretty rusty (in good shape
but rusty), so glass beaded the case
and shot a coat of paint on.
The Van transmissons used the A body
shifter mount spot on the tailshaft.

Getting ready to install the 4 speed
tunnel. Marked the outside edge, cut
around a 1/2" inside the mark to leave some fudge factor---I'll deal with that rust too!
Here in the NW if I just left it, there would be holes in a few years

top veiw of shifter. Note:
I used a standard A body 4 speed rod set that I ordered new, the 3-4 rod was a little
short and need a bend that the standard rod does not have for OD.

Shifter was from a truck (note the
zerk on the side) and had some rods
with it, cut and welded the bend in
from one of the truck rods to the 3-4
shifter rod (much easyer than trying to bend the rod). Trim the hole a bit,
ready to install the tunnel...

Up dated 2V supper six intake
with a Carter bbd from the stock 1V
with a Holley. Also installed
a NEW exhaust man. from A1Auto.
The new exhaust mans are made in
China, so far so good.
Gaskets are Aussy made and are better than anything made elsewere.

I also removed the old factory air
system and installed a standard heater system, much less to go wrong
and your really don't need air here
anyway. You can see the hose hole patchs and the new heater motor
mounting.

Carpet kit from Auto Carpet Systems
was under $150, including shipping,
fit well and looks great. Floor was
treated and painted to kill rust on the driver side. Turns out the leak
was from the windshield gasket, it was leaking from under the gasket, so new gasket was ordered from Restoration Specilties, fit was good, all sealed up great.....
