I started out with stiffer fork and shock springs. They helped, but the front end was still lacking!
Here's the (almost) finished product! YZ 80 forks, BBR frame crade and swingarm, hand guards, and gas cap vent. I have to stop and pick up some parts for the front brake, alter the choke mount bracket, and she'll be ready to ride!
Oh, almost forgot! Tall seat foam and gripper cover from Guts Racing. The tall seat and suspension mods make this little bike feel as tall as my lowered 250 at about half the weight!
The bike as of May '07 This is before any power upgrades... which I hope will be coming soon!
Hot Wheels graphics... IMS shifter, Motion Pro cables, and Works shock are the latest add ons.
Blue anodized gas cap vent and bar risers made by John. They have 'YAMAMAMA TTR' engraved on them... rightside up and upside down... just in case someone finds me upside down on the trail.
Pipe is melting side cover
Kevlar wrap to protect side cover and leg
All back together
You can see where the pipe sticks out The front heat shield is visible at the right edge of the picture - also visible is the wear on the pipe wrap and the deformation of the side cover.
Wear on pipe wrap... this is right where my boot hits. This is after just two times out with it (once for over an hour and the other time for just a few laps around our tiny track).
The first cover picture (#8) was just prior to wrappng pipe It has melted quite a bit since.
Another veiw of the melting It might be even more deformed if not for the graphics... not sure.
With side cover off You can see boot wear and where the side cover has melted to the kevlar
View from above-side cover off... Wanted to get another view without the cover.
Sorry about the lens shadow!
You could barely see the heat shield in the last pic... but can't see it too much better in this one! :(
I had problems w/oil dripping onto frame cradle. Made my own drip lip from a butter dish. Little tabs cut into the sides hold it in place.
Clean bike! You can see where I added a heat shield by the side panel.
I'm really happy w/this bike! It's a blast to ride. And now it's clean, fresh oil, and ready to head back out!
Pretty sharp!
The heat shield I added... You can see where the side cover melted away prior to adding the shield.
