09 27 2014 LoudonCnty Salute to Veterans (September 27th, 2014)SALUTE TO MILIARY, VETERANS & FAMILIES
The five Loudoun County, Virginia, American Legion Posts (Ashburn 2001, Sterling 150, Leesburg 34, Purcellville 293, and Middleburg 295), in partnership with the leadership of Loudoun County government, will host the first annual LOUDOUN COUNTY SALUTE TO MILITARY VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES on 27 September, 2014. This event is open to all military, veterans & their families & ALL others who wish to participate in assistance to veterans in Loudoun County & surrounding Northern Virginia counties.
The principal focus of this event is to provide key benefit and assistance information to attendees and assist those who need help with claims submissions or overcoming bureaucracy hurdles (we will have Service Officers from the American Legion, VFW, DAV & MCL on site to assist).
The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce is also a partner in this event and has formally endorsed it to their Chamber business members, with the recommendation that they donate as they can to insure the many patriotic service organizations with whom we are partnered can continue their work assisting those veterans in need.
Principal speakers include: Ralph Buona [Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, Ashburn District]; Tony Howard [President/CEO, Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce]; Shawn Williams (Vice Chairman, Board of Supervisors/Broad Run District]; Richard Black [Senator, Virginia General Assembly]; Paul Galanti [Commissioner, Virginia Dept of Veteran Services; Brigadier General Thomas Gorry, USMC [Director, National Defense University]; Allison Hickey [Under Secretary for Benefits, U.S. Dept of Veterans Affairs]; Bill Bryant, National Vice CMDR, American Legion; and Scott York [Chairman, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors]. Additionally, attendees will be treated to live music performed by members of the world renowned Medical Music Group (http://medicalmusical.com/home.htm).
Immediately after the formal program concludes, all attendees are invited to visit our partners' display tables in the hall. The American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans & the Marine Corps League Service Officers' will be present in the school cafeteria to immediately assist Veterans and their families with new claims, or to assist in resolving prior Veterans Administration claims.
