Issued by Boston-based United States Caramel Company, this fairly rare 32-card set features 27 baseball players, 3 boxers and 2 golfers. Card #16, Fred Lindstrom, was short-printed to prevent kids from completing the set and redeeming the cards for a major league baseball. There are only two Lindstroms known. Perhaps this is why I've never seen a cancelled card from this set. In recent year, it has been demonstrated that the set may have been issued in 1933. My goal is to complete the set sans Lindstrom (the redemption program is no doubt over anyway). |
