Kings Park in May

Seasonal Western Australian Wildflowers and scenic views of Perth City on the Swan River add to the enjoyment of a walk in Kings Park Botanic Gardens on a sunny day in May.

State War Memorial Cenotaph, Perth
Situated at the top of Kings Park and Botanic Garden escarpment, overlooking the city of Perth with beautiful views of the Swan and Canning Rivers and the Darling Ranges.

The memorial was developed around an 18m tall obelisk as the principal feature, which is almost a replica of the Australian Imperial Force Memorials erected in France and Belgium. This makes for a very impressive ANZAC Day Dawn Service.

The "Wheel of Perth" has gone!! The plan is to replace all that lovely spacious lawn area with a controversial waterfront redevelopment at a cost of about 250 million dollars!

Kaarta Gar-up Lookout offers one of Kings Park's most magnificent views, which incorporates both the city skyline and the Swan River.

The Aboriginal people use the words Kaarta Gar-up for Mount Eliza, 'kaarta' meaning hill or head, 'gar-up' meaning place of water. Aboriginal people have visited Kaarta Gar-up for over 40,000 years.
