| 152 IMG 5889 Forrest Street Norfolk Pines. Visible today from Rottnest Island, Cottesloe's magnificent Norfolk Island pines were originally only 18 inches tall. First planted along John St in 1905 by local residents William Zimpel and John Doscas, the seedlings were hand-watered for 3 years and protected from roaming sheep and cattle by picket fences. Thanks to the 2 men's efforts, only 2 of the 168 trees planted did not survive, and today the pines are featured in the Town of Cottesloe's official logo.
