Cottesloe Sculpture By The Sea
Crowds flocked to Cottesloe Beach for the 9th annual Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe exhibition featuring 71 sculptures from artists across WA, Australia and eleven different countries. An estimated 210,000 people visited the exhibition throughout the three weeks. In the Alcoa Education Program, more than 2,400 school students participated in workshops, focus tours and artist talks. This album displays some of the exhibits with their given titles and additional information when known, also some scenes from Cottesloe Beach.

Mengenang (Memory). NSW artists collective Cave Urban were announced as the recipient of the Sculpture by the Sea People's Choice Prize of $5,000 for their work mengenang (memory).

Mengenang (memory), is a wind-driven installation of 222 bamboo 'bird-scarers', each a musical instrument tuned to D-minor. The work, which began as a reflection on the 222 lives lost in the Bali bombings, captivated crowds during the 17 day exhibition on Cottesloe Beach.

The Experience Extraordinary Kids' Choice Prize of $1000, funded by Eventscorp was awarded to Kathy Allam for her sculpture happy floating dream cloud, as voted by the children who visited the exhibition. Allam's mesmerizing sculpture, reflects on childhood desires and the pleasure of enjoying the exuberant colour of plastic toys.

Kinetic Interference. Manuel Ferreiro Badia’s sculpture kinetic interference will be permanently sited  at the North Cottesloe Primary School, who approached Council earlier in the year and requested that Council consider locating its 2013 acquisition near the school as part of their Centenary celebrations.
