Panaramic 1220 Guitar Amp
1960 Panaramic 1220 Vintage Electric Guitar Amplifier
This is a 1960 Panaramic 1220 electric guitar amplifier. Its design is very similar to the desirable Magnatone Custom 260. Both were made in the late 50’s-early 60’s in the same USA factory! The control panel and circuit is only slightly different as well as the amp covering. The tube assortment is the same as the 260. The Panaramic 1220 includes a ‘normal-bright’ switch on both channels as well as a ‘stereo input’ on channel one, not found on the Magnatone. The stereo switch accepts a stereo input and will send left and right to channel one and two.
There are also two speaker outputs on the Panaramic and an ‘anti-hum’ switch. The 260 has only one output. Most importantly it houses the celebrated Big “V” “vastness” vibrato just like the Magnatone. There are two speakers coded 465-046. Code 465 = Oxford speakers, 046 = from the 46th week of 1960.
There’s a fair amount of wear and tear throughout the amp though it’s in rather good condition for its age. The photo’s show the small scratches and dings throughout as well as the covering that’s completely missing from the bottom. There are no structural issues to the cabinet, baffle or chassis. The handle does not look original.
This Panaramic has the following tubes:
2x Tung-Sol 6L6 2x Estey 6CG7 1x No Brand ECC83S 1x No Brand 5U4 Rectifier 1x Amperex EC… (12AX7) 1x Groove Tubes 12AX7
We’ve had this 1220 checked out by our in house electronics technician and is in excellent functioning condition. Several of the tubes are NOS! The caps are healthy and this amp sounds fabulous. It has a wonderfully huge sound with lots of low end response and perfectly balanced mid-high end clarity. | Album by Daniel Wollock. Photos by The Lovely Light. 1 - 3 of 3 Total. 1051 Visits. |
