Richard K. Fox cabinet Tom Hyer. Hyer was one of the first American heavyweight champs, winning acclaim in a 101 round (yes, that is correct) bare knuckles title fight in the 1840s. He successfully defended against Yankee Sullivan in the 1851 and then retired to run his bar and gang in New York City.
