When we decided to go to Maine to see lighthouses it was mainly for Dennis. Dennis is fascinated with lighthouse lore and information. However, both Candy and Cheri love animals. When Candy was researching information on Maine lighthouses she also read about the wildlife of Maine. She discovered that the Moose was the state animal. Her and Cheri then decided they wanted to photograph a Moose and see where they lived as well. In searching for information about Maine, Candy happened across a Moose Photo Tour company that would take you into Baxter State Park with a guide to help you locate Moose to photograph. We called and booked reservations with them and scheduled it in as one of our day trips. This tour came to be one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide Vicki was very good. She knew a lot about the wildlife, especially the moose. We were hoping to see a moose or two but were fortune to see ten in one afternoon/evening.
One can no longer go on the same tour we had. She has retired. However, if you are interested in going a a photos tour I did find this one that was located in the same area as the tour that we took. Go here to visit their tour website >>>>> MOOSE PHOTO TOUR
(FYI...You might find some of the photos below to be blurred too. We were working with one new camera. Cheri had the older camera that took great photos but no telephoto lens. The camera that had the telephoto lens was new and I hadn't work with it enough to figure out manual focus. Oh, well if we ever go back we will be more prepared next time with our photo equipment.)
